600R

Post by nigi-baby »

Hi
There is a lot of info out there on the 600 model ,but very little on the 600R version. Mine
is a 97 version and it`s a import. Anyone got a manual for one of these ? And wots the
difference between them ? I`m trying to trace it`s history too if anyone can help with that ?

I`ve done a check on the reg ,and it comes up clean as in :-
Not been a write off
no colour change
no plate transfer
not stolen/recovered
not scrapped
not subject to vic check
Vin number supplied matches one held for this vehicle.

Any help on the "R" version is greatly appreciated

It is not a 97-98. The FZR600R (Foxeye - as you have pictured) was produced from 94-96 in every part of the world except the US. The YZF600 (Thundercat) was it's replacement in 1997 everywhere. Here in the US, it was called the YZF600R and was only produced from 95-96.

Nice looking bike. Very clean.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

yea, thats what has been confusing me.
his title says 97 fzr600 or whatever but they only made that model in 94-96. makes me wonder if the bike was stolen and had a 97 thundercat frame put in it.

Nope. With the Foxeye body work, you would see the hole in the frame where the ram air tubes go through it. It is fairly common for insurance companies to get the bike years mixed up. Also, different countries do titles differently. It may not have been bought and registered until 97 or 98 which could lead to the confusion.

Hi,
The logbook book states manufactured date 1997 ....date of first registration
1998. It`s "P" registered here in the uk . If i do a vin check etc all the bike
checks out ,

Vin matches records held
No colour changes (states bike as white..as decals don`t count here in uk)
Not involved in a plate transfer
Not recorded scrapped
Not recorded stolen/recovered
Not subject to write off
Not been subject to vic check.

Wot i`m worried about now is ...how do i get parts as in ...i need
a clutch ( so is it a 94/96 foxeye,or a 600R Genisis 97/98) ? Engine
number matches frame . I`ve said this is an import as the clocks are
in kph and not mph as in the uk ! So i`m presuming it is . If someone
has msn and they can explain ..pm me pls.

It`s starting to become a nightmare . So when i ring up for parts
wot do i tell `em it is ?

:-(

Nigi, if its motor parts, you can use motor parts from any yzf600 94-96 AND the 97-06 thundercat version. they have the same everything except that the plastics are different and the airbox is also difference on certain models.

just look up "yzf 600" when your looking for parts.

Hi,
First of all i`d like to say thanks to everyone here for there help ! I`m new to here
and biking ,so things make take a while to sink in . I have some news regarding the
bikes history . Original log book has been sent off to be put in my name, but the
previous owner (only had it for a few week before i bought it off him) says the
original document says "Previously registered over seas"...so i`m wondering if
the bike is a 1996 model...but was imported to uk in 1997 ! As someone here
states they were made from 94 to 96 (foxeye). But on the remaining log book
slip (till i get full version) ,it states "decl/d Manuf 1997..date of first registration
1998. I think these may be wrong ! I think it was made in 96 and imported in 97
the re registered here in 98 ! Logbook slip still states though that this is a 600R
and no mention of word foxeye .

How it use to work here in the uk was....if i imported a bike now (say it was a
2007) ,if re registered here it would become a 2009 . (Don`t ask Lol) ,but i don`t
know if thats still the case,as registrations now come out here every 6 months .

The bike frame number begins 4JH . Now i belive thats a japan code ? .

Anyway...i need a snooze after all that Lol :?
