Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
There's 4 bolts to remove for the water pump housing. they're #6 Allen head bolts I believe. The top and bottom bolt are the 2 that actually hold the entire pump assembly into the motor. The right and left bolt go into the back part of the pump itself. If you remove the top 2, you should be able to pop the entire assembly out and then take the 2 other bolts off and split the pump cover....
I've got a complete pump I just pulled off my 600 motor. It's been sitting a while so the inside has rusted a bit on the inside, but the pump turns so there shouldn't be anything wrong with it..
As for the clutch pin, I dunno what to do with that. I've never had that happen to me and I've never torn it apart..

Hi,.
A competant alloy welder can shut cracks on the engine cases & the pump housing.
The ONLY hassle is if the crack runs through a bushing / bearing area then you over weld and get it machined to size again.
Have not had to do it of late but one of my 2strokes has 4 separate alloy patches to the crankcase and it runs fine & has done for nearly 30 years
Taking it to a shop (presume you mean bike shop ) will get expensive as they charge by the hour.
The casing is Buggered already so why are you afraid to touch it can you seriously tell me you can make a dead piece worse. NO so take it off show us the result and some of us can tell you a} what is required ie just get it welded or B} just replace part from a list guy.
No one here is going to rip you as we are all bikers who LOVE bikes.
Any one here who did try anything stupid would not be here for long the moderators & directors keep the peace and will not stand for sh*t

Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
I wouldn't say that my engine is dead because it does start up and the transmission is still intact. It just seems like the clutch is stuck in disengage. I feel uneasy about taking the engine out because service manual is vague and the pictures aren't clear. Can I pull the engine out just by having the bike on the kick stand or do i need to purchase a stand?
Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
if you got a garage.. chain-block it to the rafters and then pull the bike apart.. You'll likely end up with a bigger mess if you try to take it off the bike with it on the kickstand..
Some heavy duty tie-downs strung through the rafters would hold it as well..

From what you've shown us so far, there isn't any need to take the engine out of the bike.

Ok i'll post some pics of the water pump off but what about the clutch push rod?
Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
I will try and check my manual when I get home to see what is involved.

The push rod itself is just a, well, push fit. If the seal is damaged, you should be able to pull and replaced it from the outside. If the seal area is cracked, then things get more interesting.

Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
Ok, so I towed the bike to my mechanic and he figured out what happened. I had both my tires changed a month ago and they forgot to put the left adjuster for the rear wheel on. So over time the rear wheel started to bend to the right which caused more slack and caused the chain to pop off and destroy the coolant housing, the clutch seal where the clutch pushrod is, and since the chain bent from the pop off I need a new one of those. Anyone know where its a good place to get parts?
Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
If this catastrophe is due to your mechanic not installing the left chain adjuster, I would suggest the right place to start finding replacement parts is your mechanic...

im with don and i would knocking that tech out you could have killed yourself
Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
Yep, whoever removed and reinstalled the wheels after the tire change is THE GUY who should be owning this issue.
"forgot the axle adjuster" ??????!!!!! FAIL!
But.....there is a little to be said for, a) being familiar with your own motorcycle and be able to spot missing pieces when picking it up....and, b) FEELING the rear end steering out from under you, and, c) doing quick 'walkarounds' when approaching and preparingto ride your motorcyle..(and noticing things like drooping chains, badly misaligned wheels, etc.)

So where is the axle adjuster located?

Re: Help: My chain popped off and caused some major issues
The place where I got the tires put on was an actual motorcycle repair shop. I asked my mechanic, but he said he doesn't know any places to get the parts cheap. Only retail. If this catastrophe is due to your mechanic not installing the left chain adjuster, I would suggest the right place to start finding replacement parts is your mechanic...
I did notice that it was getting harder and harder to make the bike lean and turn left, but I thought that it was because air was passing through the left fairing since I had a few bolts missing. The guys at the tire shop told me to take it easy for the first 100 miles so the tires can break in.But.....there is a little to be said for, a) being familiar with your own motorcycle and be able to spot missing pieces when picking it up....and, b) FEELING the rear end steering out from under you, and, c) doing quick 'walkarounds' when approaching and preparingto ride your motorcyle..(and noticing things like drooping chains, badly misaligned wheels, etc.)
The axle adjuster is located in the rear.
I have been searching on google for these parts and I found everything to be under a $100 except for the chain and sprocket set, and I am still trying to find the clutch pushrod seal.
