Converting from a 92 single headlight to 93 dual
Is there anything I have to change besides the stay and the pig tail? Are the harnesses the same for the 92 and 93's or do I have to use a main harness off of a 93 FZR600? Does the headlight harness still plug into a 92 main harness? squid

Good question on the harness. I do believe that they're the same as long as you have the pig tail that should be with the light.
Most often people are switching to the single light from the double. Gives it a sleeker look and some of the cooler FZR400s had the single healight look that had 2 beams inside. That's not to say you shouldn't... it's just an observation.

I've done this. The harness from the twin headlamp model uses a different connector to the loom on the single headlamp bike, so it doesn't simply plg-n-play. I simply spliced an additional H4 connector into the original single lamp harnes to get around this. You'll also need the different headlamp mounting frame, and top fairing. I'm fairly sure the dual lamp top fairing mates ok with the single lamp lowers.
Personally, I think the single lamp set up looks sleeker if you're keeping the fairing, but the extra light output from the twins is very noticeable and worth having.

Re: Converting from a 92 single headlight to 93 dual
are the windscreens interchangeable between the single and dual headlight models?
Re: Converting from a 92 single headlight to 93 dual
Windscreens are not interchangeable and the 91-92 are getting a little difficult to find. FZRrider09, you will also need the frame cooler tubes as they are different also. Everyone says they seem to like to single headlight better but I have been interested in switching to the dual also and noone seems to be interested in swapping to the single.
Hey rage do you know if that 400 double bulb/single headlight would fit in the 91-92 upper. That does look nice.

I'm not 100% certain on the fitting, but NYNOAH might know... he had that light for sale before.
You should be able to pull that blank cover and replace it with the 1k light. I'm talking about the little cover they put over a cutout above the larger lamp. Not sure what good it does, but... at least it gives it purpose.

Guys, in the US you can use the original wire harness for the lights. Both sets of bulbs are H4 connections. You just won't plug one bulb socket into anything. The headlights we would get from the Japan (by way of the UK, single double) and Germany use different bulb types - non H4 type. You would need a different wire connector if you want to remain OEM plug and play. It is possible to splice the wires together though and not use wire connectors, but this creates problems when you have to remove the headlights for maintenance.
Here is the list of items you need to do a conversion from a double headlight to a single headlight and have it be factory stock:
headlight
front fairing
wind screen
air tubes
air tube covers
front fairing stay
You can get away with not using the fairing stay, but I have no idea how it is done. Basically you have to modify the double headllight stay for it to work. And again, you don't need the wire sub-harness for the lights.

Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.
Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....
I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....Then I realize that it is the train coming to run my ass over....

YES it does I have done this very mod about a weekend ago. Dual domed headlamps inside the single lens format gives far superior lighting .
You lose your park light & you have to make a pigtail to go from the single lamp plug to the two Lensed lights.

George, I got a medium smoked twin lamp fairing screen, virually immaculate. If you ever want it, let me know and I'm sure we can come to some arrangement involving the transfer of beer tokens

Re: Converting from a 92 single headlight to 93 dual
Just to tantalise you, this is the screen George...

I think it must have been new just before I bought the bike as it was all but immaculate. The original fairing was a state so came off soon after I bought the bike and it's been in t'shed ever since!
