Port Dover! Friday the 13th!

Post by billy_awesome »

Well, finally I went. And yes I have pics.

For those of you that don't know. Almost every biker in Ontario, including bikers in Michigan and New York. Ride to Port Dover Ontario which is on Lake Erie. Basically they shut down the small town of 5,000 people and it gets over run by bikers, basically it's a motorcycle town only! This year the weather was great and with a Friday the 13th being in June they expected a great turnout. Over 13,000 bikes and 150,000 spectators! If you drove from out of town you had to park outside in a field and a shuttle bus drove you into town! This year they actually had a Guiness world record for most bikes in a parade, or small town, not sure what it officially is but by the end of this week when everything gets official I'll let you guys know

Me and crichtonracing headed down this year and we had a great time, here are the pictures.

What would be a FZR long distance bike ride without a few electrical problems, I diagnosed that Matt's voltage regulator wasnt working and the VR was just sending AC volts to the battery which was overheating it obviously. So guess who brought an extra VR with him? haha yes I did, hooked it up and everything worked great! We were able to make it there.
Image

Bikes started to get crowded at the side of the road so we decided to park, little did we know how far away from the main strip we were....
Image

Here they rest...
Image

Here we are about 5 minutes into walking towards the beach, bikes aren't that crowded at all yet.
Image

Getting a lot more crowded now, hard to walk around with all the bikes and 150,000 plus people!
Image

We found our older bike brother! don't see many of these around anymore!
Image

6 cylinders....
Image

Here is the main intersection. Bikes went both ways of this strip, all the way up the hill in the background there, plus the side streets were packed as well. Wish I had a good overhead shot of everything!
Image

Take a close look at this picture.......yes that is a bird on the back seat....
Image

Our first FZR spotting, pretty clean 400!
Image

Me and my Port Dover girlfriend.....face says it all
Image

I want this!
Image

Cool paint job, didnt get the best shot though.
Image

The money shot! This dude is there every time I guess, wears a different thong every time though, he is famous!
Image

These guys came from Montreal, it's a friggen bike with a casket on the back, I sure hope they had a trailer for all this!

We understood what the front forks were for, but why is there a shock on there too? THOSE CRAZY GERMANS!
Image

Boobies alert!
Image

I hope this is a girls bike, and if it is I want to meet here then marry her.
Image

"Hey, lets get a shocker picture for the FZR guys!"
Image

Here is the parking out of town I was talking about. No jokes
Image

Here are the action shots on the way home, PS, driving a motorcycle with a camera in your hand on a busy road is a smart idea and you should try it.
Image

Me, trying not to crash.
Image

I like this shot.

Thumbs up to a great day!

Nice buddy, great photos. Yeah, that definitely looks like a pretty decent mix and friendly people. I hear there is a big rally and festival in Pennsylvania later in July, but apparently it's mostly a Harley redneck festival, although they claim to have some stunting show and some freestyle motocross show. I think I'll probably be riding MX that weekend anyway. I don't go too far out on my street bikes any more, ever since my lower back surgery a couple years ago. I'm thinking about getting a Corbin seat for my 954 so I can go a bit further. I get the old "numb-nuts" after about an hour. Gotta keep the wife angry with unexplained motorcycle expenses.
:duh:

Thanks again.
