Easy R6 shock upgrade
Hey there guys and gals...
I have a couple of these setups.
It is EVERYTHING you need to upgrade your FZR from stock shock to late model R6 shock.....The shock itself(low low miles), a set of my adjustable dogbones to allow you to restore the ride height AND tune it to custom geometry of your choice(higher tail? > not a problem). The upper eyelet on the shock has been bored from 10mm to 12mm so that it accepts the stock upper mount bolt and alloy spacers to center the shock in the upper mount are included. The lower eyelet has been radiused to clear the relay link.
It gets you 'hi' and 'lo' speed compression damping adjustment, rebound damping adjustment, more preload choices, and the late model shocks are rebuildable.
This is a bolt-in and ride it an hour after opening the package kit:
PM me for more details.

Re: Easy R6 shock upgrade
If I buy another 600, I would go this route. Inexpensive and highly effective!

Re: Easy R6 shock upgrade
How hard is it to punch the upper eyelet to 12mm, and how accurate does it have to be? Are we talking mill, drill press, hand drill?

I used a 31/64" ball end milling bit in a production(multi-head) drill station. It's a very weird piece to clamp, so I made some spacers for them to rest on..chucked a 12mm bolt in one head and dropped it thru the lower eyelet and pinched that end down with the drill head and then did the plunge with the ball mill in another drill head.
I probably complicated it more than necessary, but I wanted to do it under coolant-I didn't want any risk of the rubber bush melting. There's not a lot of 'extra' material, so I wanted it to be true. I considered pressing the whole bush out but didn't want to mar the body.

Re: Easy R6 shock upgrade
Nice one. Speaking as someone who's spent a month developing their own upgrade to a Gixxer shock, I can heartily recommend this as an easy transplant. Nice work there RR.

Racetech will put their gold valve in and valve it for you(with fluid changeout) for $169. $209 with gold valve and 'rebound separator'.haunter wrote:not quite as nice

I haven't found the need, and will do the service on mine myself.

Thanks for all the responses.
Sold out at this time...should be able to get a couple more machined/welded for next weekend.
May even have to do full polish during the evenings on one of the bodies to mount on my own bike!
