i've had to drive in that rain a few times.

well, to get to the point. I noticed that my lights were acting funny.
I have my headlights set so they turn on when i turn the switch to high beam.
when i flicked it to turn on, it wouldnt turn on, so i played with the switch a bit and they turned on.
it was doing this for a few days until today, finaly, they wouldnt turn on at all. So I checked my crappy wiring job but its all good, then i checked the fuses...good... so I tore apart my left hand control and I found that one of the wires connected to the light switch was melted and not soldered on (solder disapeared??).
it also melted the triangle plastic piece that it connects to and just distroyed my switch....
the only thing i can think of is that water got in there and made a connection between both of the wires which fried the wire.
I thought that these controls were water proof. lol. I mean im sure they made bikes so they could sit in the rain and not do anything to it.
Iv got left hand controls from a 02 R6. which are the same controls used on all the carbed yamaha bikes around that time, such as most year YZF600s and 99-01 r1 controls. theres probably more but thats all that i have confermed.

hopefully i still have my old controls lying around..
