Thanks guys. It is a little rough. I'm actually having the same problem as Billy right now. I can go down the road, come up to a stop, and the engine dies. It is really annoying.

Duane - The air box came in real handy. Thanks a bunch for that. The Blackbird mirrors just didn't work out. There is no vertical adjustment with them and when mounted with the FZR fairing stay, they pointed at the bottom of the rear wheel.

Shred - I will be doing the 660 engine. But set backs caused me to need to use a YZF engine so I ride for now. I decided the undertail exhaust wasn't going to work with the tail I'm using. Maybe the next project will get one.

i would just put a shorty pipe on, or somehow re-direct the pipe to go out the clutch side.
It dies when it comes to a stop? could it be the computer?

I had the "die when it comes to a stop" problem when I first got my 1k running. Didn't do it until after it was warmed up. I'm not all that familiar with YZF6s and not sure if you or Billy have done a carb synch yet but that is what cured the issue with my bike. Prior to the synch my bike was way too rich and my best guess is it was "loading up" and causing it to flood when coming to a stop. But that is still just a guess...

Yep, sounds like the culprit is the carb. I've got most of the stuff for the DIY sync tool. I'll try it this weekend/week and see if it helps.

I also recommend the two bottle method. Can be a bit tedious but it works well. Key is to get the fluid levels balanced in both bottles and then get the fluid to stop moving. My 1K revs almost like it was EFI. No hanging at all and goes right back to idle once the throttle is closed.

Well, I sync'ed my carbs. I built the two bottle sync and it worked great. A little tricky to do the sync with out pressing the butterfly open with the screw driver, but overall it was very simple. It literally took me longer to take the YZF600 tank off and put it back on than it did to do the actual sync. Of course getting cylinder 4 to match 3 was more difficult than any of the others. Don't know why, but I got it close enough. I also turned the air mixture screws out to 2-1/2 turns. This with the sync makes the bike run perfect. Running with stock jetting and the adjustments I've made, I can start the bike with 1/4 choke and put it to no choke within 1 minute of it getting cranked up.

With all of this, I've been taking some very short rides around the neighborhood and the adjoining neighborhood to sort things out, get familiar with the noises, and make sure that I am not going to have anything fall off as I'm going down the road. Everything seems great. So today was the first real road test. I put about 40 miles on the bike which is the longest ride I've been on in 2 years. This thing runs great. I love the mods that I've done to it. It is like I'm a new rider again as everything is so different from it's previous state of being. I can't wait to be able to get out and ride again tomorrow. There still might be a couple of bugs to work out like the tach reading and I need to redo the bracket for the steering damper, but as of right now I can go down the road and enjoy it.

Thanks for all the comments and encouragement guys. This has been a long time coming. Still need to rework the exhaust (different canister) and do a better paint job, so I'll be adding those items here when they are finished. But for now, IT IS TIME TO RIDE!!!!!! :headbang:

You have inspired many a FZR owner, including me, to be innovative. I applaud what you have accomplished.

Thanks guys. Really, all the members feedback is what has kept me going on this. 2 years is a really long damn time.

Pimp - Go about half way down page 9. There is a walk around video there. It was shot before I sync'ed the carbs though.
