OK. I now have a mint shock from a Suzi 600SRAD which I think will fit. The reservoir thingy on the top of the shock sits quite high, but this isn't an issue as my battery is on it's last legs so I'm going to get a gel battery and relocate it either in the tail, or under the fuel tank cover, freeing up some space to clear the reservoir doo-dah. I'm going to machine top mount bushings from PTFE rod. Pics to follow dudes.

Got mine for £9.99. The suzuki stuff goes dirt cheap. I'm thinking of a SRAD tail conversion as well.

I know this is an old post but i thought i would ask. I have a 95 fzr600 (4HJ) foxeye. Would this gsxr600 rear unit work on this model of the "6"?? My rear unit suffered a death with the poor state of roads where i live. I looked at all the usual suspects nitron maxton etc etc none of which offer any form of adjustment on the basic units and it would be nice to be able to adjust the rear unit.

Read about the r6 unit conversion but the gsxr600/750 sounds like its more what im looking for.

I put a shock off of a '94 GSXR 600 on my fzr. Had to radius the lower connection point. Also had to machine a spacer for the eye at the top of the shock. I like the way it raised the rear of the bike.

Fzr 500....... seems to be that most were destined for the European market although a few appear in Oz/NZ.

Was this a horsepower restriction perhaps ?

It appears to be a lesser capacity 600 (3HE) rather than a larger capacity 400 .


Anyway,back to your question;

I would go for the 06/07 R6 shock.
There are usually lots on German Ebay in very good condition and at a good price.(its where mine come from)
You need 138mm center dogbones to keep the geometry the same as original.(Stig on here does them as does Kayla @

I have not listed US members who also do the suspension links as you are in Austria.( you can decide if shipping is viable)

Also required are spacers for the top mount (washers will suffice at a pinch) either side of the shock mount which is thinner.
I drilled the top shock bush out to utilize the original bolt rather than use stepped spacers and a smaller dia bolt.

The R6 shock is a known upgrade and highly recommended/easily accomplished.
I have no experience of the Fz1 (Fazer 1000) shock in a FZR but have fitted the R6 unit to my 600 3HE and to four of my 400's.

yes it is exactly the same with the 600 just with smaller capacity. actually on all the parts stands 3HE.
