Post by lafaro »

hey just curious as to how hard it would be to mount an r1 tail on a 99 fzr

Not very. But it does depend on what you want to do. Do you want just the tail and pilot seat? Do you want a passenger seat? Do you just want to graph it onto the bike or do you want to put the R1 or R6 subframe on it? Each piece adds a degree of difficulty. Also, this will depend on the year you are looking to use. As the bikes get newer, the ass gets smaller which makes it more difficult to use the FZR subframe.

But the 99-02 R6 tail (and probably the R1) are fairly simple to swap on. Hell, Shredex has a 05 R1 tail on his. If he can swap a tail on then anyone can. LOL.

Dont you hate it when People have Obnoxiously big pictures in your sig.

Anyways the mounting is going to be custom just like if you were to put on an r6 tail. Anything is possible if you got the money.

i would stay away from new style tails just for fact that after 04 on R1's they came with undertail exhuast so unless your adding that type of ehaust your rear end will look kinda funny ..

lafaro... right click your pic on your desktop, open with PAINT, CROP, then you can --edit---resize do 50% 50%. reupload. DONE.

I don't think shred's tail looks bad due to the r1 having undertail exhuast, even with that puney 160 tire ;)
