Part question

Post by Jshak07 »

So i went down yesterday, not very bad, little road rash on right arm and back and some scratches on the right side of the bike. DOnt have a camera or I would put some pictures up. This is a pic of the bike from the guy I bought it from but inside the yellow circle is what I broke. I went down on the right side and that piece shattered and drained what looked like all my oil. It was just the cover that got broke (I think) but what is it and what am I looking at getting a new one?

Yep, as Shredex said, that's the starter clutch cover (AKA "peanut cover"). And that was indeed your engine oil that draind out. Hope you're okay. Now get that thing fixed and get back on it! :headbang:

Riight side crank case cover-part number 2TK-15421-00-00. If you want a brand new one you can order it from your local yamaha stealership. It's around 80 bucks though. Or you can get an aftermarket one from NRC. There also maybe a few people here that could selling them so you may want to check one of the threads in the for sale section. There's also ebay. Any year FZR600 will fit as well.

Check ebay. You might get lucky and the shipping might be faster than the dealer.

Called the dealer, (yamaha of Louisville) and they wanted $147.xx for the part and the gasket and it would be here by wednesday. I made a 1 hr road trip to a place called Greens motorcycle salvage yard and got the part and gasket for $75 and I was riding on saturday! Dealership's suck

Glad you're up and running again. Also remember that the YZF 600R covers will work...for future use just in case.
