my bike is screwed..

Post by match417 »

So i started work as an electrician today, officially left the mechanic field, $15/hr right now, which isn't bad, it will get better as i get better. BUT, the first thing the boss told me was to keep my cell phone off during work. Of course this would be the day that my landlord called me early and asked in a voicemail if i could move my bike because the roofers were there and ready to start reshingling the house. Needless to say i didn't get the message until after i got off. And he was told by the roofers that they wouldn't throw any material near the bike until it was moved. But it wasn't moved and they did anyway. And my bike was in the worst place for the debris because it was on the corner of the house where two roofs hang over it. I literally had to dig my kickstand out of the shingles because it was more than completely covered, all the way to the foot pegs on the left side and about 6 inches on the right side. My windscreen is cracked in two places, my tail is all scratched up, front fairing scratched severely, front fender scratched, my left LED turn signal is busted, seats scratched (and they were perfect), tank is all scratched up, and now it won't run either. It ran fine four days ago, not sure why it won't run now, i don't think it being hammered by rain gutters and shingles would have any adverse affect on how the bike runs, but i'm blaming that on them anyway, for all i know it jarred some connection loose. There was also a huge rain gutter laying beside it and some scratches that made it look like it hit the tail. Luckily i had taken off the side fairings to sell them, and the mirrors were off too. So they are unscathed, but the bike looks like a wreck. Those guys are paying for my new paint job, and seats, and turn signals, and broken pieces, and whatever else i find wrong with it. It's not THAT big of a deal because i'm in the middle of the R6 conversion, was planning to bondo the tail, and had some other plans too. But i had already told some people that they could buy some of my old fairings. Now these guys screw it up and i can't sell them, the front may be ok, i'll check it again tomorrow, but the windscreen was perfect, and now it's shot..no hope for salvaging it. Wish i could take better pictures, the cell phone isn't that great, my friend still has my camera. The damage is worse than it looks in the pictures.

On top of that i stepped on a nail that went straight through the soul of my shoe, so now my foot is bleeding.

Got tetanus?

Sorry to hear about your bike - I'd be slightly ticked off myself!

i just talked to the guy in charge of the roofing, he said he was sorry, and what had happened was there was a pile on that corner of the roof where they kept piling stuff, and it slid off after it got heavy enough. It just happened to all land on my bike. After looking at where the bike was sitting in the pile in the day light, it was way more than it looked last night, like 3/4 of the rear tire was covered. And just by looking at whats left on the roof, there were 3 layers of shingles, so that explains why there was so much debris.

Regardless man, those monkeys need to be accountable for this. That is just reckless disregard! Either take them to small claims or see if they'll knock the price WAAAAY down on the roofing job (if it's your house). You probably already know this though!

Damn, i was wondering what happened to you =P if it's any ease, i'll still buy the front end off of you, minus the windscreen. Just the fairing+headlight+fairing stay =) It doesn't look too too bad
