TOO MU CH HEAT...HELP!!!

Post by josbourn1 »

I overheat at idle easily unless i run the fan bypassed all the time. there is coolant in it, seems to circulate, i dont know what else. thermostat maybe? are there problems im not aware of? ive never dealt with liquid cooled!

P.S.- got the bike together last night and took it for its first journey today albeit a bit slowly, safety first! My first sport bike, fast and powerful, buzzy though!

Thanks in advance guys and gals.

I would change the thermostat first, it's good to change them every few years anyways.

If it still continues I would suggest your water pump has worn out. Not a big deal you can get one used from someone here for cheap im sure.

if it was thermo the fan wouldnt help it at all.Take the thermo out and run without to check it.It takes longer for the bike to warm up but its free form of test.
If it is faulty get a replacement though.
Im picking you have very little impellor left on water pump.
If you think yours has been raced at any stage it may have only had water in the system and no anti freeze etc and the impellor could be almost none existant.
Let us know how you get on.

three quarters for fan turning on is normal as far as i can remember when i had fzr road bike.
I cant confirm as my race bike has no fan at all.
Mine never get a chance to get hot as im moving all the time and shut bike down straight after stopping.
