93 fzr nose...help

Post by dongie189 »

i bought a 93 fzr600 that was layed down on both sides... i plan on fiberglassing the fairings but it came with an aftermarket nose

when i pulled the old nose off... it has four pegs/bolts (slide through headlight asembly) that are not present on the aftermarket nose... how do i mount the new one without these?

sorry im new to the streetbike scene and dont have much experience working on bikes

ANY help is greatly appreciated

post some pics of the after market one the guy that had it before you could have cut up the stock one thats what happen to mine, and if your fiber glassing the farings add something so you can mount it on the nose
modded air box,
K&N drop in,
race tech fork springs,
R6 header-kerker exhuast,
things to come, 520 conversion, jet kit, yzf front brake calibers

Lots of aftermarket fiberglass fairings do not come with the mounting bolts. You will need to add mounts to get it in there. However if the headlight is cut out of it, then the mounting points should be there. Only thing I can figure is that someone modified a racing fairing to use on the street.

The '92 & '93 fairing has one hole for a single headlight. It is a big rectangular shape light with only one bulb in it. All other years have the two round lights. Which on the fairing looks like two big overlapping holes. Which one do you have?

By the way, if the fairing is plastic (either OEM style of aftermarket ABS plastic) it will not take fiberglass very well. There are some tricks to make it work, but they are all fairly difficult. Same thing goes for bondo.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Sorry, got myself a little confused. The '91 & '92 are the single headlight. All the others have the two round ones.

You will probably need to add mounts to it if you want to use that one on the street. If it doesn't have the mounting bolt holes then it is probably fiberglass. And if that is the case, you can use the stock one as a template, place bolts in the correct spot, and then fiberglass in the bolts so they are permanent.

Is that what you are looking to do?

yah... none of the bolt holes are pre-drilled but there are dimples that mach up with all of the holes on the original

so can i use regular bolts from the hardware store, match them up and fiberglass them to the new fairing?

the side farings are stock... can they be fiberglassed or do i need to do sumthing different?

Dongle,
use a camera phone if need be they do not need to be gallery perfect just enough to show us what is what.

You say the nose fairing got laid down is that meaning it is scraped or cracked / broken into 2 or more pieces.

If scraped then file the roughness down fill the scrapes with bondo or if real small Knifing putty then you can 1} paint it over OR 2} take a fibre glass casting and re-make a real fairing from that.
If the plastic is broken use a stuff called Plastecs to repair it see:-

When you put the pics up I will see what else I can suggest
