New guy needs help buying FZR600 - EXUP question

Post by DavidEW »

Saw a bike for sale that looks like it has everything modded you would want on a FZR. It's a 92. I've never owned one but have wanted to for a long time. I know a bit about bikes but I have no idea how to check if the bike is a model with EXUP. The owner doesn't either (?) and I want to go check it out but I want to know what to look for. Can you guys give me the scoop?
Thanks-
David

Well that easiest way is it to look under the rear seat where the ingnition box is. You'll see the exup servo in the same area mounted to the left side on the sub frame. Also if the bike still has the stock header you'll see cables coming from it to the servo I just mentioned. I used to own a 92 exup 600 and now own a 94 exup 1000. Great low end on these exup bikes

Thanks. I assume when you say under the seat you mean remove the seat and look there (or do you mean actually under the seat by the subframe). I believe the pipe is just a Yoshi slip on so I should be able to see cables running right from where the header connects, right?

Yeah remove the rear seat and you'll see it. Look under the bike on the rear left side of the header and you'll see the cables. Also if it's still fairly stock you'll see a bunch of hoses and what not around the oil filter-that is the power robbing air injection system which is also found only on exups.
