Here is a picture of the wheel painted......Came out better than I expected. I guess the real test will be after I have to wash it for the first time.

Are you going to clear coat it at all? or, did you already? I would put several coats of clear coat on it to help protect the paint.

I did a little research on this paint. Iv'e read some guys say not to use clear coat because it turns yellow. The instructions on the website say not to use clear coat on anything but polished wheels so I dont know if I should or shoulnt.
Today I also installed the K & S hydraulic switch. Works OK I guess. Nothing major to it. Just use it in place of the banjo bolt and wire it into the light switch. Took me all of 30 minutes to do including re-bleeding the brakes.

yes u put it on and notice there will be a chunk of rubber sticking out from where u cut the swingarm down , you can take a box cutter or even a razor blade and line up the cut to flow with the swingarm .. well thats what i did atleastjax wrote:To those that have done the swap.

i would clear coat , if u dont clear coat and u wash the rims after what ever u use to dry them will stick to ur wheels

i can use if u want i did .. just install and cut off exess rubber with a blade
i would clear coat the wheel , youll be thankful when u goto wash the rim

When I painted my wheels white, i clear coated them with some Wheel Clear Coat from autozone. Its been 2 years and it still looks good. No yellowing.

OK then. Looks like I will have to use some steel wool to scour the paint a lil bit so it will grab the clear coat. I plan on doing that this week.

Good decision! We just want you to be happy. That is a lot of work to not have it protected with clear.

Thanks for looking out for me. I will hopefully get everything done this week and put it on Saturday and Sunday if it take me that long.

Shoot man. It started to rain and its cold outside. I can't complete the clear coat while its humid outside. I guess i will have to wait until it stops or put a couple of heaters in my garage.

Click Here. This write up is done on a YZF600 but the principles are the same. You'll need a chain tool if you don't have one already. I myself suggest going with the rivet type of master link because I just don't trust the clip types. Check here for where I got my chain tool.

Thanks for the links. Im actually more worried about getting the correct number of links since Im going to a 14/47 setup from a 14/48 that is on my FZR now.
When measuring to get the right number of links do you put the wheel all the way forward and get the next link back on the chain?
Or do you go for the center of the axle bolt hole and make it dead on there?

Think I just found my answer.
Since the 530 and 520 have 5/8 inch pitch , I just need to subtract 1 link since Im going 14/47 from 14/48.
So whatever I have now on my 14/48 setup minus 1 link. I will double make sure of that though. Thanks guys.

How do I determine what chain length I need?
If your sprocket gearing hasn’t changed, the answer to
this question is easy… the same number of links your
old chain had! But you probably wouldn’t be asking if
were this easy, would you?
If your sprocket tooth counts haven’t changed, but you
have converted to different width chain and sprockets,
you may or may not need to modify your chain length.
The chain pitch is what matters here. Remember, with
ANSI-spec chains, the first number of the size refers
to the pitch. So if the pitch remains the same – as
it would if you were switching from 530 to 520 for
example - the chain length will remain the same. If
the pitch is different, an easy way to figure out what
the new length should be is to multiply the measured
pitch of the old chain by the number of links, and
divide this total by the new chain pitch, rounding up.
For example, say your old chain was a 110-link 630,
and you’re converting to a 530. The pitch of a 630
chain is ¾” (6/8). Multiplying the pitch times the
number of links gives you the total chain length… 82.5
inches. Divide 82.5” by the new chain pitch – 5/8” –
and you get 132, which is the number of links you’ll
need to run with your new chain.
If you have changed gearing, simply add or subtract
the cumulative change from your previous chain length,
rounding to the nearest even number. For instance, if
you plan to go one tooth down on the front sprocket,
and 3 teeth up in the rear, the total change (in
regards to chain length – not gear ratio!) is 2 teeth
up. So all you do is add 2 to the previous link
count. If you were running a 110 link chain, you’ll
now need a 112.
