New FZR600

Post by Jetman »

We just picked up a 1993 FZR600 that doesn’t run. I can’t wait to get it going. I rode one back in the day. I also own a FZ1.

Congrats on the purchase. Good luck getting her running and don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Welcome. Hope you like the site we have here. Tells us more about yourself and (I'll start the peer pressure off as there will be more to follow) post some pics of both bike. I think you would be our first FZ1 owner.

Welcome!
I bought my gf a FZR, bike was cheap because it wouldn't start either.

After I drained the old bad gas in the float bowls in the carbs it fired up no problem! Saved myself some coin!

I didn't take any pictures of the FZR before I removed the plastic. Here is a pic of the FZ1

I drained the gas out of the tank. Is their an easy way to drain the bowls?

Thanks

the bleed screws are on the bottom of the bowls.

For carbs 1&2 the bleed screws are pointed at the bottom left corner (8pm)
For carbs 3&4 the bleed screws are pointed at the bottom right corner (4pm)

My trick was getting a pop can, cut it in half, then using a screw driver to loosen the screws half way out, no need to take them all the way out, the gas will leak out.

You'll be amazed at how disgusting the gas will look in there!

Any further questions on this, start a new thread in the FZR600 section, since this is for introductions. Best of luck!

Welcome to FZROnline! We're glad to have you. If you have any tech questions, feel free to ask them over in the FZR600 forum; but don't forget to check the Wiki -- it's getting more and more complete all the time.

And it's okay to post up pics with the fairings off; we're all adults here, and have seen a naked fizz or two before. :whistle
(Nice FZ1, btw)

that would be a center stand

sportbikes dont have them because they add 30-50 lbs to the bike :)
