my youtube video..put on my YZF600 tank or keep the R6 tank?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcsrJIU5zAw
I get a gallon more with the capacity with the YZF600 tank, 5.5 compared to 4.5 i think..i don't want to look it up again. I put kreme in the YZF600 gas tank after removing the rust to prevent future rust. But the R6 tank has dents and scrapes in it, but I put so much into making the brackets fit. Also even though I think the R6 tank looks better because its smaller, I can't fit an airbox under it, so i would have to custom make the air filter box or make some individual filters fit using some pvc elbows and fit that to the velocity stacks, or I could just put the 600 tank on and use the stock airbox, then drill my holes in the frame and reinforce it for the YZF air tubes to fit through the frame. With either tank i'm putting holes in the frame and reinforcing it though. There are different pros and cons, the numbers on the side is an easy to add up and see the pros and cons..i just don't know which one i wanna do. I get the same number when I add up the pros and cons...what do you guys think?
So basically:
...600 tank...
0 cut holes in frame for airtubes
-1 make new brackets
+2 airbox fits underneath
+1 5.5 gallons
+1 in better shape but still has a few dings
-1 need to paint it black
-2 I like R6 tank better
+1 I don't think the handlebars bump the tank
...R6 tank...
0 cut holes in frame for airtubes
+1 keep old brackets
-2 custom make airbox
0 4.5 gallons
-1 has worse dings than 600 tank
+2 don't have to paint it, right now
+2 I like this tank
-1 handlebars bump the tank on close turns, even when they are adjusted

Cool video, You should of got some scorzayzee camera angles LOL
I say go YZF tank, it flows really well with the FZR.
It's funny, In Canada we pronounce "Z" like "Zed", where in America you pronounce it "Zee".
Now say FZR -EF-ZED-AR
Sounds funny to you I bet
, Sounds right to me, never thought of it before!

Yeah, i'm on the fence..i might do the YZF tank. Mine has kreme in it now, i've heard it gets in my fuel filter after a while, and i definitely don't want it in my carbs! For that reason alone I might do the YZF tank conversion.billy_awesome wrote:Cool video, You should of got some scorzayzee camera angles LOL

Id say go with the R6 tank since you already have it mounted up. It is more rare and unique. Handlebars still hit on the YZF tank too.

After seeing the video, I'd say keep the R6 tank. It looks like it flows very nicely with the tail. The YZF tank will look a little blocky on there. Plus it is different from everyone else.
Nice video. Hey, make sure you buy some shoes to ride in with the money you are getting from parting out the YZF. LOL

Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

do a fork swap! then you wont bump.
mine used to barley clear, now it clears by a mile both ways.
Id keep the r6 tank.

You do what you want but the YZF tank will look better in my opinion.
J, the video was awesome!

Here's what i would say. TRY and get the R6 tank to work first. If it doesn't then go with the YZF tank. Also the YZF shock may or may not work with the rear end swap. It's about 3 inches longer than the FZR and you'll probably need to make a new upper shock mount.

Re: my youtube video..put on my YZF600 tank or keep the R6 tank?
So how do i know before hand if its going to work or not? I've already eyeballed it and the shocks look about the same length.sweekster wrote:Also the YZF shock may or may not work with the rear end swap. yeah, it took a lot of grinding and stepping back, then grinding and stepping back. I was hoping to have enough room to custom make an insulated lunchbox under the rear seat..shredex wrote:match, do what sweek said, give the r6 tank your best shot..your bike looks gorgeous from the tank back...
