Bar ends?

Post by billy_awesome »

Well, I've had my fizzer for 3 years now, and I have never had bar ends. When I ride I really don't get any vibration but rides longer than a hour or so my hands get numb.

If I were to get the proper weighted bar ends would this help?

Or are bar ends for riders where vibrations are really really bad?

The numbness can either be from vibration or having your wrist bent. I've never ridden without bar ends, so I can't really comment on that, but I do get numbness when my wrist is bent for an extended period of time....

when i first got my fzr last year it didn't have bar ends and the vibration wasn't that bad. i have since put some bar ends on that are pretty much standard replacements made by some aftermarket company. to be honest, i haven't noticed a big difference. my hands and wrists still get tired and sore. especially on a day like today when i wen for a 3 hour ride. i just didn't like the looks of the open bars so i wanted to fill the holes.

did they have some weight to them? I noticed a lot of aftermarket ones are light as a feather so they won't help much if at all.

I've read that filling the bars with bird shot helps. I've done this with my bike but haven't really ridden it yet to report any improvements. Gel grips do help though. Also, see about getting a set of bar ends from a heavier bike like an FZR 1000 as the ends weigh more.

You should be using bar ends. It equals everything out.

I've got Vortex Racing bar end sliders on my bike, and I haven't really paid attention to the vibration. I'll pay attention next time I ride and see how bad it is.

I also still have the stock weighted bar ends, so I might do a comparison if I get some free time.

yeah they have a bit of weight to them. i have no idea how they weigh compared to the stockers. i would venture to say they are probably lighter than the stock ones. cheap aftermarket stuff usually isn't made out of the greatest material.

buy clip ons...stock bars on the fzr suck. once i replaced to aftermarket ones there was no vibration, i rane mine with oem bar ends machined down to run better replacement bar ends. throttle hand always went numb after an hour.
