good way to hold the FZR up?

with no forks for swing arm?

I have a U shaped piece of wood I used on my 1k with a floor jack, but the 600 may need to sit on something for a few weeks.

should i just make another one and bolt em together?

You may need to make the wooden "bracket" deeper than the 1k as I believe the 600 pipe actually hangs lower <?>

What I did before I got front and rear stands was that I took all of the fairings and fairing brackets off, then used a pair of cinderblocks with two by fours on it to hold it up. With the bike on the kickstand, I put it under one of the engine cradle rails, then rocked the bike up onto that side and slit the cinderblack with two by four under the other side. If you did that with two cinderblocks per side and a long enough two by four, you could support the whole thing without and forks or swinger on there.

I used 2x6s (in green) and made the following (the grey blocks represent where the sub rails would sit.):

Mine wasn't the best idea in the world, but it's just what I did before I knew any better.

Rage's idea looks good to me, and if I had to put it up for a while (like I will soon with the fork work I'm about to do) I'd go with his way.

If I really needed to work on things, I would throw ratchet straps over the rafters in the garage or the main beam in the basement and lift the bike. 2 ratchet straps held it up with no problems. Really helped with reassembly too.

get two metal rods or posts and slide them through the bike, then support the rod ends with wood or blocks.

I had thought about yanking the exhaust as its coming off anyways

its an old commerical building Im keeping it in, so the rafter are like....12-14 feet up. and covers with ceiling ties.

some metal rods and jack stands seem like a good idea!

TK: harry potter? screw that, hermonie can come over anytime though....

Geo: I def would need to add ~2 inches for the 600, especially because I had a nice 4-2-1 supertrap setup on my 88 I made this for so the 600 header is way deeper.

I have F&R stands, but they do me no good when I am yaking the forks/triples and swingarm off

Yup must admit I cheated and used the ratchet straps idea with a fork lift truck Tines as the overhead, trouble is now I no longer available. Boo hiss the greedy bankers creating this recession
