Help! (again with my dang crapy motor)

Post by shredex »

so, a few days ago when I was driving, my bike started acting funny...
it was acting like it was running out of fuel, but different.
Different I mean like the bike would accelerate and stop, accelerate and stop repeatedly even though the throttle was in the same position...think of a donkey... EEEEEE awwww EEEEEEE awwww.
and if I let the throttle go all the way in, then the bike stalls...
well it only did it once that day, but today it did it like 6-8 times and I had to pull over...it works if I shut the bike off and start it back up...but it did it to many times today...
when I barley made it to wal-mart to buy a phone card, I tried started the bike but it wouldnt...
I checked my fuses and the main fuse (the lonely 25 one) was melted...
luckely I had a spare 25 and put it in there and drove home with no problems...I dont know if it was the fuse that was causing it or what.

any help on this???

Sounds like your wire coming off the ignition is arcing. If its not that check all your wires for one touching(arcing) somewhere.

Have you spliced into anything? Didnt you say your gauges are half hooked up? Check your ignition wires to make sure they are properly covered and no bare wires are exposed.

If you "melted" a 25 amp fuse, you've got an electrical problem. Most likely a wire that is grounding out on something.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....Then I realize that it is the train coming to run my ass over....

well, I looked at my ignition wires, and the one wire had a huge like centimeter big solder on it that was holding the wire together. part of the solder was sticking out of the electrical tape and I think was being grounded out by the hose clamp from the radiator which was also touching the water pump thermestate housing thing.
I resoldered it all and cleaned it up.
hopefully this solves the problem.

That same thing happened to me but it was touching the neck of the bike and grounding out. Thats how I knew what you were talking about. When I do my front fork swap im going to solder all my connections and cover them with shrink and be done with it.

better park it shred till you find the short or maybe faulty vr. I fried my cdi, new battery, main relay, and fuel pump when mine did the same sort of thing and i tried to make it home. If you smell sulfer its too late bub. go find naslaes electrical test on archives (unsure of spelling) and trouble shoot your electrical. BTW thats a big short to melt a 25 amp fuse. Next thing to melt may be everything...

oops nevermind i didnt read the entire post.. hope you found the problem

another thing, My brake light no longer works.
it works, its on, but it stays bright all the time.
I have the two wires plugged into the master cylinder but when I pull the brake it doesnt get brighter.
I checked the connections and everything but I cant seem to find the bug.
I dont know if there is a relay for it...because there only is 2 on the bike..lol

My tail lights do the same thing - but when I push on my back brake pedal the light get's dimmer and when I squeeze the front brake lever nothing happens? All wiring is stock and wrapped with no cuts in the factory wiring harness. My front brakes and master cylinder are from a yzr 600-do you think that is the problem- I'm pretty sure they worked right before I swapped the yzf front brakes-I'm stumped?
