Shock conversion
I was wondering if anyone knows about what it takes to put a Yzf600 shock on Fzr600 ? I also have a 1998 zx9 shock sitting around any chance that it will fit on the Fzr ?

Re: Shock conversion
Your best swaps are either the FZ1 shock or the 2006 R6. A busa shock has been made to fit as well. Anything can be made to fit. Couldn't tell you about the YZF or the zx though.

Re: Shock conversion
Find out the measurement from the bolt holes - center to center. The FZR is around 12", so that's where you need to be.

Re: Shock conversion
YZF shock would be too long and you'd end up redoing the shock mounts on the fzr frame.

Re: Shock conversion
Some R6 shocks have a vertical reservoir and some are horizontal. I would think that the horizontal would be the better fit. Is this true or ?

Yep. The shocks that ThatKid mentioned in his post all have horizontal reservoirs.ratbikesforever wrote:Some R6 shocks have a vertical reservoir and some are horizontal. I would think that the horizontal would be the better fit. Is this true or ?

Re: Shock conversion
Easy enough, I have all the content for a yzf600r to fzr600 conversion ... in my head!
In short...
You will need to machine the rocker arm frame mount down from 44mm width to 30mm, you will then need to reduce the inner diameter of the rocker arm frame mount so that it will take the FZR600 roller bearing.
Then you can mount an Ohlins YZF600R rear shock to the fzr600.
cheers
