ebay - preload adjusters

Post by demon_knight69 »

hey all, saw this yesterday on ebay and it made me scratch my head.

Preload adjusters

it says they fit a wide variety of forks, including fzr400 and yzf's. anyone tried these? they just don't seem like they would work with our stock forks.

Stock FZR600 forks don't have preload adjusters. There might have been a FZR400 variety that came with them though - RRSP, perhaps?

YZF forks have preload adjusters - not sure if that's limited to 97+ or if they all did.

It looks like all of the forks in question are USD forks, not the conventional forks like the stock FZR600's have.

And I may be reading it wrong, nut it looks like the only thing you get is basically a wingnut that fits on the stock preload adjuster, eliminating the need to carry the proper size wrench around. It doesn't look like it comes with the preload adjusters themselves.

"creates a high impact visual modification" = squid bling

"Some applications may require a wrench instead to adjust the preload. In these instances, adjusters are purely cosmetic." = useless

yup
I did that.

No. The YZF forks came with a similar preload adjuster and they're not USD.

That's correct. You're only getting the wingnut adjuster thingy.

I would actually like to get some for my GSXR, so I could adjust without finding a wrench and rounding the adjuster off.

i figured as much. $26 for a couple wingnuts seems pretty stupid. but it sure would beat carrying the wrench around if you've got forks that can be adjusted.

might be useful if i plan on swapping the forks out sometime in the future. at this point though, i just want to keep her running right and get the fairings all taken care of :-D
