Interesting article. I didn't see a shifter or a clutch on the bike... which makes me think it will be like driving an automatic "sports car" I would be more interested in the 2 speed version i suppose.

Isn't someone doing an electric conversion on an FZR?

Meg,
It has has goten a lot better in 5 years even if the materials used are more toxic.

I can see bike accidents being attended by guys in HAZMAT suits !!

As far as gearing is concerned it is not realy needed from what I understand from another list because of the way electric motors deliver power & the way the throttle is "flyby wire" position sensed by the equivalent of a "standard black box" of our petrol bikes.

I personally am hoping that the EPA's of the world vote against electric bikes on the toxicity of the chemicals in the event of crashes and the two stroke closed loop engines get the green light which makes more sense to me even if we are running low on fossil fuel.

I would rather run the truck on water and keep the bike on gas.

Yeh but then at least you knew if acid hit you and the lead was unlikly to get in you , if the others get in a wreck you may not know you have splinters of very poisonous substances in you unless they always X ray you

George, why havent you figured this out yet? You seem to have lots of knowledge and all they do is run off batteries.

95,
That is what one of my lady friend said :-}

seriously until you buy down pipes made of any thing but steel then the acid from the exhaust ^ condensation within the pipe will rot the insides. Probably why good end cans with their packing are now s/steel or alloy or if you have a deep pocket titanium.

As for my knowledge it is gleaned from almost 50 years of biking, reading tech stuff / doing & most importantly making mistakes

When you get it right you will not remember how you did it !!

which is why I keep on about you all documenting what you do & taking photo's aint like in my day doing sketches complete with greasy thumb marks LoL
