brand name carbtune

Post by ALMOST »

What do you guy's think about carbtune the manometer to sync your carbs. I notice that the inlet rubber boot where you connect the vacume hose is threaded anyone know of an adapter that connects to the hose. (I think carbtune comes with a few). I guess this question might well be asnwered by Yamaha george, seeing this unit is from England. But I have heard good things about the unit. I believe they still have mercury in them compared to the manometers sold in America. Also a carbtune with shipping is cheaper than the ones sold here.

Have you tried K&L? They have a couple different types.

I just check the site. Looks like a nice carb sync tool, nut it does not give a price. Do I have to find a dealer.

You might want to skip those... they're both over $550...

You have to call for price and order.

I've got the Carbtune II. I can't remember who makes it but it was about 130 shipped I think. No mercury and works amazing. Comes with two sets of adapters for pretty much sport bikes and cruisers. Super easy to use and fixed my hard start issue instantly because of out of sync carbs. I can sync them up in under 30 min and that's including pulling everything and reinstalling it.

It's amazing how quick you get at pulling the FZR apart after you do it each weekend.... ha!

My wife always gave me the same look too... "WTH!"

The $109 unit from Handy looks like a pretty good deal. Nice to not have to hang vertically etc. I've always liked Handy's stuff....nice quality and function without being all blingy about it

Thatkid, the carbtune II is made in England, http://www.carbtune.com/
You can fine videos on youtube with average folks sync-ing there carbs with it.

That 109 unit from handy I believe is set for two vacuum tubes which compares only two carbs at a time. They had some for 4 carbs but they were a little more. The carbtune has 4 vacuum tubes that compares/indicates the amount of vacuum/atm of two carbs to the other two carbs, sync-ing all 4. I think that it is a good investment for the FZR owner that spends his weekends pulling the old girl apart. :no, ragedigital that's funny my wife does the same thing, gives that look when I'm in and out of the garage with different bike parts scratching my head trying to figure out what I'm doing.

I found mine from a US distributor in Cali. While it costs a bit, the ease of use makes me want to sync my carbs all the time. They are mercury free now and use a metal rod to measure.
