Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
Cool. Congrats on the project so far. If it is a good one they still are plenty power-full. Enjoy and let us see how you get on. Q It looks like you have the same yosi-pipe like mine so what jet size are you running??
Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
Thanks!! Seems to be a good one so far. I haven't ridden further than 1 city block but it did alright doing that. I'm using the 127.5 jets that came in the Factory Pro 1.0 kit and 3 turns out on the screws, 3 setting from the top on the needles. Hope that helps. It may change once I start riding the bike and figure out where the flat spots are. I would love to switch that Yoshi exhaust for a EXUP header. The one on my bike is most certainly the wrong one.chefen2006 wrote:Cool. Congrats on the project so far. If it is a good one they still are plenty power-full. Enjoy and let us see how you get on. Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
OK , 127 jets My downpipes are the original ones with the exup and all. Only problem is that the exup-valve can be a little loose and start to rattle. If you plan to put the original downpipe on, you might want to check if the servo motor for the exup is still there and still working, and that the cables are in good condition. Thanks for the info on the jets. It want be long and you will be
Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
Well, time for an update:
Click here for the video of me finally riding it
Since running the bike that last time I've been hunting for a few more parts. I finally located a correct airbox for it that came with a pretty clean K&N drop in filter. I got brand new boots for the air box as well. Located a steel after market undertail for it. Brand new petcock, fuel filter, and fuel hoses as well. I have a replacement sending unit on the way as the one on it is broken (so no reserve light at the moment).
So how does it run? The throttle response is pretty impressive on idle. However, the lack of the EXUP header makes the low end almost non existent. Meaning, you are puttering along and when the bike hits 4000 rpm it "wakes up" and that's pretty scary when you aren't expecting it. It also is running quite rich so I will have to adjust and double check the carbs for that as well (I'll probably build my own synch tool for it too). A new chain and sprockets will be on order within the next week or so. Still alot to do. I'll eventually need to pull the engine and do a valve adjustment. I want it to be completely mechanically sound before I make it look pretty. Still more to come.

Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
Thanks guys.. I'm pretty happy with it so far. It can only get better from here. There won't be any tail swaps in the future for this bike as long as i own it. A fox eye FZR 1000 is rare enough in itself and I plan to keeping the original styling intact. Ups the cool factor.

The 4.00 (USD) Carb Synchronizer
Home Made Vacuum Gauge Synchronizer
As you see my friend, there are several options.

Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
your suppose to sync carbs 1&2....then 3&4...then sync 1-2 with 3-4...
I dont see how you can sync 1&2 or 3&4 because this is what im getting from all the information iv read.
I cant find another place to put the tubes.

Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
What you have drawn there is a 2 cylinder synch tool. A 4cylinder synch tool has 4 tubes such as this Motion Pro (see below) which will then allow for "ync carbs 1&2....then 3&4...then sync 1-2 with 3-4"...shredex wrote:your suppose to sync carbs 1&2....then 3&4...then sync 1-2 with 3-4...

Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
you can sync with just a 2 cylinder tool, you just have to do it all one by one in three processes.sweekster wrote:

what I meant is that where do I plug the hoses into if I can only see 2 places to put them....I dont know if I have the right spot to plug them into. its the two tubes that come from the carbs which I believe is there for exaust.
Re: Bringing the 1k Back to life
From what I remember, you need the adapters and you thread them into the holes in the intake manifold boots that the carbs sit on. See below..shredex wrote:you can sync with just a 2 cylinder tool, you just have to do it all one by one in three processes.sweekster wrote:
