I'm pretty sure Match and I had already decided on this one, but I'm just double checking everyone's input.
My understanding of our FZR600 igniton is that it is constantly hot with positive current, using negative pulses from the ignition controller to fire the coils. This would make it an inductive discharge (non-CDI) ignition. Looking at the 91-93 wiring diagram I have at the house showed the positive wires from the coils going to the fuse block and the negative wires going to the Ignition controller, seeming to back up this theory.
If it is in fact an inductive discharge ignition, then according to the Accel Ignition website
http://www.accel-motorcycle.com/pdf/Sup ... versal.pdf
I should get the kit # 140403 for my bike, right?
Any Input on this would be good before I add this information to the Wiki.
Thanks.

Yep. that's the one. You'd probably get the same effect and spark intensity with a 4cyl Ford or Suburu coil though. There's a few people on the forum running them.

Re: Aftermarket Coils
I thought about the Ford coil pack conversion, but I didn't want to go with pods. Pods sound like they're too much of a headache. I also considered the Subaru coil pack conversion, but I haven't been able to find out the dimensions of the pack, so I don't know if I'll have to go with pods for that as well. I just want to stay away from pods if at all possible.

Yep. You've gotthe right Accel coils. I am still waiting to hear back from them (accel) as the the useability of their pencil coils (coil on plug)
I did get an email back from WeaponX confirming that their c-o-p units WILL work in our application. Theya re two wire and have a primary resistance of 1.5ohms.

Re: Aftermarket Coils
The Suburu coil is HALF the size of the ford coil and just slight bigger than one of the FZR coils (helps to have a family member with a 98 legacythe_finch wrote:I thought about the Ford coil pack conversion, but I didn't want to go with pods. Re: Aftermarket Coils
Awesome. Thanks for the info. If the eBay auction I'm bidding on ($50 right now) falls through, I'll go with the Subaru coil pack.
