'07 R6 brake calipers and controls...

Post by deernet »

Are the '07 brake calipers a direct bolt on? I was reading the wiki about installing '05 R6 controls, anyone know if the '07s are the same?

Aren't the 07's radially mounted?

I dunno, are they?

I'd like to know, I'm fixing to buy. They have the blue dots like the earlier calipers.

then those are off of a R6S not a R6 because the other ones are radials and No will not fit ..These that you have in the picture should though and its the complete set with the master cylinder ... if you get them cheap go for it .. i Just changed them last week to these blue dots .. still have to get them right pressure

Yeah, it says their from an R6 S. What's the difference in the bikes? I'm hoping these will fit. I'm going to grab them up.

I was reading up on the new R6's and R6 S, and the current R6 S has: "Light, 298mm front brake discs, four-piston calipers and radial master cylinder provide unsurpassed braking power and feel." While the R6 has: "Dual 310mm front disc brakes use forged one-piece radial-mount calipers and radial-pump front master cylinder with adjustable lever for astounding braking power and feel."

So I'm guessing you can use the calipers off of a new R6 S? I'm looking for the FZR disc size now...

i warned you , lol ,, its ok thought dont sweat it they will come around just keep your <QQ> open .. i got mine for 26 bucks calipers, master cylinder , resevoir and lever and lines plus 13 shipping can beat it but i just ordered new ss brake lines for it <IF MIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EVER SENDS THEM OUT > LOL

but make sure before you buy them blue and gold dots the ones that fit our bikes are more bulkier looking wheras the ones off 2006-07 and up are more boxy looking . When u find a good deal and you reall want it best to hold off sending links around the forums .. i doubt somone from this site bought em but hey you never know .. they are still worth 100 with the master cylinder

R6 and R6S front calipers 98 and up will work (which is what you had pictured in the auction you lost) and are a direct bolt on and from what I've read the brake lines are just long enough to be used on the FZR. These are the same calipers used on the 97-06 YZF600R (AKA The Thundercat). The only difference is the master cylinder and even then the YZF600r spec'd master is an upgrade from the stock FZR one. The R6v uses the radial mount type of calipers and they don't fit at all.

I would just keep my eyes open for the YZF600R (non-R6) calipers. I got a MC and calipers for $27 + shipping, and when I didn't need the calipers (just put EBC HH pads in the stock calipers) I sold them for like $20 to one of the guys here on the forum. MC cost = approx $7.
I have SS braided lines and that remote res. MC with new pads, and that should more than take care of the stopping end of things for me. Now to just install the MC and SS lines...

$102.50 for that model is fairly high in price. But if it did include the clip-on and controls, I can see it.

Heres the low down on the brakes. As long as your bike has dual piston callipares already, then you want the "blue dot" callipares to replace them. You also want the master cylinder as this is what really gives you the benefit in the brake upgrade. The other ones are radial mounted brakes and do not bolt on at all. The years to search for are '99-'04 for the R6 and '06-'08 for the R6S. The 2005 R6 had radial mount brakes and therefore do not work for you. Adding steel braided lines is also a step up.

The FZR has 298mm front disks for the brakes. They are not interchangable with any other Yamaha model except the 1WG FZR400.

As for the controls, you should be able to make them work. It will require some re-wiring to do it though. MrFreeze has done it, so ask him about it.

Hope this helps.
