I hear ya man... I got laid off at the beginning of Oct, and was forced to move all on the same day. Let me tell you, that was a shitty day. But a month and a half later, I have a better job, a way nicer place, and met a great new girl all within a few weeks of each other. I know it's tough at first, but things will get better... be grateful for the things you may have, keep the spirits up, try and stay positive as much as you can, good things also come in 3's!cad600 wrote:Things always seem to happen in three's.....
Bike won't start, Got layed off Monday, ......
Waiting to see what number 3 is going to be.
If anyone needs some CADD work done let me know. I'm not doing much right now.
It sucks, but oh well. Bad part is that I couldn't even get drunk Monday night. 4 redbull / vodka and a few beers but not drunk.

I've thought about getting any job I can find. Including Lowe's,Cycle Gear, Ace Hardware.... Hell, it would probably only take me a week to get back into the grove of flippen chick at KFC if it came down to it. I don't think there is enough money in selling body fluids so that's out. I also don't have the resources (or looks) to start filming porn - think the wife would be against that one too. Things will be OK. I've applied to 6 different jobs last night and have a few more resumes to put out today.
Thanks for the support guys. I really do appreciate everything. Now if Mark would come over and fix my bike for me - j/k

That sucks ass. Sorry to hear that. I am sure something better will come along. You are right about things happening in 3's. First I lost my plane tickets to go home to denmark for x-mas,then the internet-connection went down, and shortly after the water-heater in my apartment packet in. Only small stuff compared to what is happening to you,but it proves the theory of things happening in 3's. Hey come to spain and I'll buy you a beer

Re: It happens in three's.
I don't want to sound like everyone else who's lended their support to you here, but things will get better. They may not get better when you want them to, but it will get better. Here's my story:
Got out of the Army in '97 and landed a job fairly quick with a company that makes polishing slurries for the semi-conductor and hard disk drive industry working in the warehouse. Worked my way up the ladder and ultimately held a unique position handling all the facilities for their cleanrooms (2). I was pretty much a jack of all trades, and was eager to learn more. I even took some college classes on my own dime! The dot com bubble burst, things got slow, and I found out that people I had trained were in a higher pay bracket than me. I brought this to their attention, and they could care less. I walked out of the door and got a job with a small company that was working on a project at NIU (yes, the one where that psycho killed himself & a few others). I was making more money, but the project manager balked at me putting in enough hrs. to make a living off of, and this project was supposed to lead to other projects. Long story short, it didn't.
After that I got a job delivery med. supplies, but they didn't have enough business to keep me moving. Then I got a job as a repo man, but ran into the same problem. Hell, since I was doing so much driving I might as well be a truck driver! I studied on my own and got my CDL permit, found a school, and finally start driving for a decent company after working for 2 others. Things were going great! I was driving across the country and seeing things that I wouldn't have, and making good money ($800 - $1,200 a week after taxes & child support). Then the housing market crashed! I got laid off and by the time they called me back, bills piled up, the kids got use to me being home again, and I was planning on going back to school.
I got into a grant program, and the state paid for all of my school expenses! I even got paid $5 everytime that I had to go on campus to take a class. Things went well the first semester, had a cool teacher, and passed. In the meantime, I had been testing with the state to be a CO. Things were going well with that too, but then our gov. got the bright idea to close the prison where I had planned on working! Slowed down the hiring process, but I got hired since the State Rep. where the prison is located didn't just lay down for the gov. Things still look dicey, because the other prison that was slated for closing just may not happen. So the target may just be put back on where I work now.
Time span for all of this? Aug. 05 until Oct. 08
My advice, don't give up or settle for what life throws at you, and most importantly keep an open mind. I love what I do now & the benefits are just mind blowing compared to anything else I've done.

Dangerous when bored.
Re: It happens in three's.
Well, I do believe it will get better. Hell, it can't get much worse. I've been putting out resumes to anything the I might even be slightly qualified to do with CADD, but I think it's time to start expanding my search. Down side right now is I've come accross more than a few jobs that I would love, but I don't know the program and it's one of those that takes some time to get use too. We'll see what happens now.
Thanks for all the support guys. And if the plane ticket wasn't so much, I might have been on a plane to collect on those beers. As allways - much appreciated.

Too bad about plane ticket prices. The offer is still on if any of you change your mind. Until then, eat yellow snow,it might be beer.cad600 wrote:Well, I do believe it will get better. THe best advice is that: Don't jinx your self...
Then it will be a fact, so don't do it to yourself.
