ok so i was just wondering what the wheel size is... my front is a 17in and rear is a 18in... is that normal? both wheels match and are identical except diameter... im curious if this is the reason my speedo doesnt read correct speed... thanks...

That's normal. The 18 inch rear rim is one of those things that makes our bike such a pain in the....uh, I mean, makes them such a pleasure to own.
Finding rubber for the back is fun, as there aren't many choices for performance tires in an 18" rim. Speedo is driven off of the front wheel, and it could be off if you had the wrong tire size up front. Stock calls for a 110/70R17, but I have a 120/70R17 and don't have any speedo problems. If you have a different profile tire (ex. 120/65R17) then it can really throw your speedo off. If you have proper sized tires, I'd say the the almost 20-year old speedo cable is worn out and needs to be replaced. It happens quite a bit, from what I've heard from the other guys.

yeah im checking over everything as we speak... it is a 110/70/17 dunlop... wore down a good bit but i dont think it would cause a -15 mph reading (give or take alittle at different speeds)... i think its just the cable... ill replace soon and notify...

The cable usually fixes it. Sometimes the sending unit itself will go bad; it's fairly rare though. I can't really say from personal experience as my speedo has always worked fine.90fzr600nm wrote:yeah im checking over everything as we speak... it is a 110/70/17 dunlop... wore down a good bit but i dont think it would cause a -15 mph reading (give or take alittle at different speeds)... i think its just the cable... ill replace soon and notify...
