putting away the fzr

whats does everyone do when they put their bike away for the winter?

i think they just throw it in the garage and tear it apart and do upgrades to it.

yea i have a few mods i want to do but i was asking about storing it for a longsleep. like should i take out the gas or anything like that? i think i am going to do it just like my skidoo for its summer sleep. start it shut off the fuel let it run the gas out the carbs. put some fuel saver in the tank then spray the motor down with some wd-40. anything else i need to be aware of?

yes, deffenitly get the gas out.
for storage, Haunter likes to keep his in the bushes on the side of his house.

but just running it out of fuel wont get it all.
make sure that some time during the winter before the bikes ready for riding again, that you clean your carbs.
you should also drain the oil.

A few people have used Stabil to keep the fuel left in the tank and carbs good. And the front and rear stands to avoid flat spots on the tires.

Even in the Colorado winter I dont winterize my bike. There are at least 1 to 2 days every week or so that I can take the bik for a spin.

thats just like the stuff i use. my tires\rims are off to get the rims painted. i am also planing to get new rubber this spring

yeah, and putthe sta-bil in before your last run of the engine. Top the tank off (less airspace-less condensation/evaporation) and run it until you can smell te stabil in the exhaust(very distinct) and then turn teh petcock to 'off' and let it run til it dies. Let it sit for 30 secs or so and hit start again..it should rumble for a couple seconds and die again. Now, any tiny bit of fuel still in bowls will be stabilized as well.

I usually wash it one last time, ride it until dry-engine hot and then hit the gas station add stabilizer and then do the above..then change out the oil, lube the chain, cables, pivots etc. Put a plug in the exhaust, pull the battery and and park it on front and rear stands.

It looks like that will happen tomorrow.

well its to bad i cant ride it it all apart. my bro in law is painting it for me so its siting on wod blocks right now

last winter , i just left it in the garage , started it every week or so ... even rode it around the block if the snow was plowed good , come spring it fired right up and didnt have no issues what so ever , but this winter will be differnt it will be stored at a differnt location that wont be as accessible on daily basis so i might have to go this route also .
