The Official "Create a Contest" Contest
Sounds crazy I know, but here's the scoop. I purchased some Plastex, used it, took some photos of my work and sent them to Plastex. Ed, Plastex Guru in Charge, offers to give something in return for using my photos on Plastex's website. (see photos here: http://www.plastex.ca/repairs/fairing-repair.asp)
Anyway, I told him that I would like to get a small kit of Plastex, to giveaway here, in exchange for the photos - he agreed.
You've probably seen Dr Rockso's signature or seen his post concerning the repair of Plastex. If not, I'm sure he'll comment here. It's great stuff. It's really the most simple and cost effective way of repairing your fairings or other plastic parts.
So, I have a Plastex Repair Kit as the 1st prize item to be given away on FZROnline.com, but I'm not so sure how to make it fair. That's where you come in. Help create a contest that will be fair to all members, with at least 10 posts, and we'll give this item away!
Special thanks to Ed Kozlowski of Plastex for giving the kit away.
THIS JUST IN!
Ed, from Plastex, is offering to anyone on FZROnline.com the chance to receive a MASTER KIT #2006 without the cost of shipping! That's 16% off! You just pay the $74.95 for the kit!
This is only good through the month of June. This is an excellent deal for anyone who goes to "Track Days", does stunts, races or anyone who owns an old Fizzer!!!!
Be sure to visit the Plastex website (http://www.plastex.ca) and order your plastex today. You're going to need it anyway, might as well get ordering.
Let the games begin!

Re: The Official "Create a Contest" Contest
Oh, this is good...The first thing that came to mind would be a hugger design contest, but then everyone would have to go out and purchase fiber glassing supplies.
So, then I figured everyone has a computer, why not have a contest to design a set of club rear sets? A little sketch work in your favorite graphics program should be simple for everyone. The winning design could be worked up by ModKing or Kid.
Off to place my order now.

Another forum that I visit once in a while does a drawing at the end of the month, members enter the drawing by posting on forums; each post you make gives you one entry. the idea is that it gets members participating on the forums. just an idea.
Re: The Official "Create a Contest" Contest
How 'bout a "post a pic of you and your fizzer" contest.
Whether it be track day shots, touring through the countryside, yanking wheelies down Main St (not recommended
), posing with the bike at some really interesting scenic location, etc.
Have the members vote on which member's pic they like best, et voila! A contest is born.

Re: The Official "Create a Contest" Contest
ThisEndUp, that sounds pretty good. I've seen some of the other forums do ROTM (ride of the month) or BOTM (bike of the month) and usually it's a "bike in perfect condition popularity contest" and it's a bit more complex than posting,
...there's usually a max of 5 nominations for a month and nobody can nominate themselves, which makes sense, it's a 3-stage process where the first week of the month a "Self-promotion" thread is opened, followed by 2nd week of the month a "nomination (w/ second required)" thread is open. First 5 to get nominated twice AND accept the nomination get in the final 5 running. Then it's up to a vote the last part of the month and the winner is selected. NOBODY can win two times in a row, which is great, in fact, we could go a step further and say nobody can be nominated two months in a row, you'd have to skip a month minimally, that way we don't end up with a popularity contest where the same 5 - 10 jerks win all year long, every year. (that's the way everyone else would feel) ... so this gives EVERYONE a chance to participate / win / at least nominate and or vote.
Also remember that someone has to be in charge of this, and it's not always easy keeping track of who voted / nominated / cheated-tried-to-repeat / etc. A very organized person would probably do fine with it though. (not me, I've got so much going on at work this year I'll be lucky if I don't quit, walk into the woods, smack the nearest grizzly bear and give him a mercy meal of crunchy human bone and flesh)

Re: The Official "Create a Contest" Contest
I think I'd lean towards the "pic of you and your bike at interesting locations", rather than just a pic of a cream puff bike.
Show us where you live and ride.
This forum is about the bikes and their riders, after all.
Action shots or stills. Whatever.
We can simplify the voting by just setting up a poll. (I'm thinking out loud here, as I've never set something like this up before).
Well, whadya all think?

Re: The Official "Create a Contest" Contest
I was thinking about just pulling straws... man, you guys are tough.
Actually, my original idea was to have people describe why they need the Plastex. You know, the sob stories. "Just had our 8th child and I need to rebuild my FZR for my father who is dying from extreme constipation!."

What? Are FZR owners known for having cracked and broken fairings?ragedigital wrote:I was thinking about just pulling straws... man, you guys are tough.

Re: The Official "Create a Contest" Contest
Since we're waiting on the gallery, we'll have a contest for "FZR photos" a little later. Maybe we'll give out a T-Shirt for that.
Here is the official contest: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=438
