wheelies anyone?
has anyone gotten the fronts of there fzr's in the air????
I have an after market rear spoke with a few more teeth and I cant seem to get the front up with no matter what I try.
any suggestions??
I wish I had a 400 frame so the bike was lighter.
I only weigh 130lbs so it should put up without to much od a struggle.
cant get it up though (maybe some bike viagra?)

Re: wheelies anyone?
You should beable to get it up no problem.Roll on the throttle to about 8 grand back off and snap it back open real fast and it shoud bounce right up.If that dosent work you could always clutch it up..

Re: wheelies anyone?
yea a 14-45 spocket combo will get you up , and then if you want to make it even easier go 14-52 and you be wheelie off the line , and this is all without even poppin the clutch

Re: wheelies anyone?
Yeah, I dunno. I have stock gearing and a good no clutch whack to WOT from about 6k in first hangs my front end about 18" on a flat road 'til redline and it'll barely touch down and come back up with the shift to second for a little bit.
If I am as far back on the seat as I can be, or I use a hump in the road it comes higher.
I'm not talking about balance point stuff, but just good fun power wheelies.
If I pick it up outa slow second gear corners with wheelspin it carries the front end a while.
Mine is piped, jetted stock airbox with a k&n panel and I have degreed the cams for a little more midrange.

Re: wheelies anyone?
I agree, I have stock gearing 15/45 at the moment, and nothing spectacular for mods other than a Yoshi Slip-on. Power wheelies, and clutching it, yields wheelies with no effort for me. Of course these are done in safe unpopulated areas....FasterThanUr wrote:You should beable to get it up no problem.Roll on the throttle to about 8 grand back off and snap it back open real fast and it shoud bounce right up.If that dosent work you could always clutch it up..

Yeah I can power up a little bit maybe 18" but I get towards the top of first and clutch em straight up and immediately shift into 2nd and ride it out

Re: wheelies anyone?
I have 14/47 gearing! and I cant get the damn thing up!
I want to do just a roll-on.
so when im in first, I ride to 8k (without clutch engaged?) then let back the throttle, then full throttle it?
I think I might have almost got the front up the other day.
When I straight out full throttle it from stand still, then bike doesnt lift either.

Re: wheelies anyone?
Clutch it dude just keep your right foot covering your rear brake and you can always bring the front down if you get uncomfortable.

Re: wheelies anyone?
you're just gonna kill yourself, take it easy.
Get Thatkid to build you an R6 header, put an aftermarket (FMF, Yoshimura, etc.) pipe on it and it should make enough of a difference for what you want to do. Follow our write-up under his section.
I couldn't do wheelies at all with the stock 530 chain 15-45 sprocket set-up. I could do small wheelies with the 520 chain and 14-47 sprockets. With the R6 header I can do wheelies all day. Honestly though, "power wheelies" are really not going to be normal for most FZR's... at least for our heavy steel frame 600's.
Notice that FasterThanUr is running 14-49, R6 header and custom ram air, also i'm pretty sure he's running a lightweight 400 aluminum frame.

Re: wheelies anyone?
when you say "Let off" you mean let off the clutch right?PIMPMYFZR wrote:yea would try powering it before i start tryin to clutch it , you never know mite land flat on your back , but on mine once i start in first punch it up to 6-8 rpms let off and then rip the throttle open and that f*ck should stand right up
this is what im getting
*you pull in the clutch-
*turn the throttle to 6-8k-
*let go of the clutch-
*full throttle it-
*feather the throttle forward once on stand point
*switch to second gear and so on.
Re: wheelies anyone?

Re: wheelies anyone?
I'm sure the ignition advance is helping some, and you're a wild strong man. probably not as easy for 130 pound guy to pull up on the bars with much force.
Shred- be sure you're wearing all your gear in case you flip the thing over.
