well glad the GF side got fixed, a lot of you seem to go thro it, just make me appreciate mine more @ 29 years and counting.
The bike is certainly coming along but I have a request can you take a picture of the rear caliper and its holder on the bike (I am putting a 3TJ swingarm in my 3HE (600)).
It will have a 18" 3he wheel, made all the right spacers today

I have a 3TJ wheel (17" ) with a 1wg sprocket holder no problem there as the only thing that differs is the internal spacer arrangement (1wg is 17mm axle and the 3TJ is 20mm axle the bearing for both is the same !!!! )
With regard to the titanium silencer you need some sort of damping on the hoop to the footpeg unless you want the outer tube scuffed with vibration.
The spring holding the end pipe to the mid pipe looks slack it needs to be real tight to put on & is usually fitted at the top rather than the bottom (the pipe weight helps keep it pulling up tight ) (an old bike spoke welded to a T handle works well as a spring puller)
Also the mid pipe looks way to small for the end pipe it should be a tight slide fit, mind you the camera angle probably exaggerates the difference.

Thanks a lot George. I wish you both to make 100 years more together.yamaha_george wrote:C,csofos wrote:I finally re-make it up with my girlfriend, so i'm really ok now. And the work on the 3tj goes well. Here are some pics from the end of today's work. More in my gallery

Of course i can take pics, BUT... (there's always a "but"). Previous owner of my 3tj had made rear arm swap from the latest 1wg model, propable because destroyed the origin one. He also putted the rear rim too. And i strongly believe that he putted a rear caliper from an older 1wg. I kept everything as they were, except the rim. I had one from a gsx-r 400 (GK76A) witch had the same to the 3tj origin dimensions (4.00''x17.00''). As you can understand it didn't fit right away. I made some mods to the rear sprocket holder. If you're still in interest, i can take as much photos as you need.
Thanks for all of your advises.

Thanks for all of your advises.I assure you that i'll follow every word you said. You know better because of your many years expirience. I'm very gratefull for advising me. Every kind of photo you need, just ask me.
Thanks for the good wishes, any picture of the rear brake caliper set up would be good.,
The 3TJ wheel is 17 "4.5 I think so It can handle wider rubber (no big deal for me or style )
The fact that the caliper is 1WG could be of help as I have that and the 3He model (the latter may not fit as it is meant for a big disc not the small 400 size 3 bolt disc)
If you want to post them privately rather than here, send them direct :- george AT saltmine DOT org DOT uk
Thanks

Re: THE 3TJ PROJECT
what year is that 400??
I like that frame, although I dont think you can put a 600 motor in it.
What size is that back wheel?

Re: THE 3TJ PROJECT
Model year must be '90 or '91 (not more not less). The 600 engine could fit as well. I've seen that engine swap, i can assure you. The back wheel is 4.50'' x 17''. It's from gsx-r 400, but the wheel dimensions are similar to the fzr. Needed some modes to fit on though.shredex wrote:what year is that 400??

you have to remember he's in Europe, and the European version of our bikes our 1988 FZR400 was the 1986 FZR400, their 1994-95 FZR600R was our 1995-2005 YZF600/600R etc. So from what I can tell, his 3TJ frame would be the equivalent of a US model YZF400 (though I'm not aware that they made such a model). It's an awesome little bike that I wish we'd gotten over here in the states, but sadly they don't tend to bring in the awesome smaller displacement bikes, as very few people seem willing to buy anything smaller than a 600cc Race Replica.
I bet the swap you saw was a 95-95 european FZR600R foxeye motor swap (US YZF600). It's the same basic dimensions as the early FZR600 motor, but it's got a bigger bore and shorter stroke, so it revs higher and has more hp, but loses a little torque in the process. The other main difference (to my understanding) is how far out the front sprocket sits in regards to rear wheel alignment.csofos wrote:Model year must be '90 or '91 (not more not less). If I'm steering him wrong or am completely off base, someone chime in and put me back on track.

Re: THE 3TJ PROJECT
Not only '95-'96. Earlier engine models (3he) have been swaped on 1wgs and on 3tjs. It's almost the same procces.the_finch wrote:Shredex-shredex wrote:what year is that 400??

Re: THE 3TJ PROJECT
I also thought I saw a link to a 3TJ/YZF750 motor conversion somewhere over at http://www.FZRArchives.com, but I can't seem to find the link. It probably also had alot of fabricating you wuold not want to do involved in it.

Re: THE 3TJ PROJECT
I saw on ebay a 3tj with cbr900 engine on. The guy was selling the bike and i couldn't ask him what and how he did on it. But it must 've been taken a lot of mods as well.the_finch wrote:I also thought I saw a link to a 3TJ/YZF750 motor conversion somewhere over at http://www.FZRArchives.com, but I can't seem to find the link. Re: THE 3TJ PROJECT
Yep you've got it pretty much spot on. The yzf600(4HJ) motor is the more common swap as it has mounts on the head to mount it to the frame, like the 3tj motor. Some small spacer plates are need as the don't quite line up. The earlier fzr600(3HE) doesn't have the head mounts so it is alot harder to get good mounting in the frame.the_finch wrote:Shredex-shredex wrote:what year is that 400??

Re: THE 3TJ PROJECT
No, but it has mounting cases on the crankcase and you can make some holders starting from the 3tjs frame head mountings and ending to the 3hes crankcase. Lot of work but it can be done.

Csofos Your bike is looking great so far! I absolutely love this bike.
Too bad the 3TJ's are rare here in North America, I'd pick one up in a heartbeat.
I'm curious, what is the rear wheel size and width??
