My igniton doesnt have a key cause it looks like someone tried to steal the bike in its past so I have no keys for the bike and I dont wanna put the rear seat on and have it get locked in and I wont be able to take it off. It USED to be the same as your ignition key.

If you are lucky you can find a 4 or 6 digit number stamped either on the chrome face of the lock cylinder or on teh body of it. That number will allow a Yam dealer or a licensed locksmith to cut a key by code.

Agreed

My 1k came with no keys at all (and no seat for that matter). I took my ignition switch to a locksmith and he was able to make a key for it. I recently got a corbin seat for it off ebay and took the seat lock back to the same lock smith and he made a key for that too. Yeah i have 2 keys now (gas cap is a keyless one) but it's better than nothing at all.

i have the R6 tail swap on my bike with no rear seat lock and have been trying to find a way for a while now how to get one rigged. the latch is still there and if i just reach under the side of the tail it works fine but it would be kinda nice to lock it too...

2 screws underneath. I do believe they are TORX. Like Mark stated, it's easier to do it after removing the top triple.
