The Airtech tail is a solo unit only. You would have to go with a R6 or R1 to have a passanger seat. I think swaping the subframe is the best solution in terms of strength for two up riding. But I don't think it is entirely required. You will need to fab some support brackets for the passanger seat if you don't use the subframe. But some good fab work is required to use either R6 or R1 subframes as nothing bolts onto the 600 frame. You will actually need to cut the existing subframe off to do this. There are plenty of people who have done the swap, I'm sure they will offer more insight shortly. Good luck with it.

You could get the airtech tail, then cut the top off and do a little fiberglassing to finish it off. I've seen it done and actually have some pictures of another member's process.

I would go with the sub frame route from the 99-02 or leave out the sub frame and follow this link:

Which swinger are you going with?

Heres some pics of my subframe for the 03-05 R6 tail. It's a 400 but im pretty sure besides being a bolt on sub, there about the same.As you can see from the pics it takes lots of cutting and welding.

Look at my gallery. I put an R1 '01 tail on my fzr400 (1wg). I didn't change the subframe. I even kept my driver's seat. However, i put the R1 '01 rear seat. You have to do some mods on the tail, but it'll fit just fine.

to be honest with you.
the easiest that I can think of is 93 fzr600 tail on a 92 fzr600.
it wont make any difference, but, its the easiest tail swap I can think of !

:offtopic: ...any joker fans out there?...these plastics may b up 4 sale SOON!!!!
I think they look pretty cool, although I'd have to get another stay since I have a '92. I just bought a perfect single headlight upper too. If you'd sell it for cheap I might be interested though. Did the previous owner have the paint done? I assume it was done recently because it looks like Dark Knight. Kinda morbid cause of the Heath Ledger deal. But yeah, shoot me a PM if you wanna get rid of em.
