Geographic map of members' locations

Re: Geographic map of members' locations
I think I've got it narrowed down to a graphics card driver. ATI cards seem to be the biggest culprit with this error. I found a log with nearly the identical problem, but the solution (missing file) was only mentioned not there for download. Got to go finish a fence in the yard, so I'll do some more digging on this a little later.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

yup on the money mines an ATI card and the error shows up after "sticking" for a while at install it pops up missing X11.conf file aborting set up message.
You are lucky its only the fence. The wife is back home in the Windies and the kids are with me and I am clearing out the crap while madam aint looking & painting in colours I want (thus no arguments cause she has no colour co-ordination what so ever ) LoL
PS who ever said they can add me manually PLEASE do try putting me at my home in Trinidad west indies or try Trinidad & Tobago google does not seem to know where that is (11 miles of the coast of south America the most southerly island in the caribbean sea ) Nerd
Thank

Can I get some more info on your computer. This will help me narrow the search for the correct file a little more. I know you are running Linux - Kubuntu Hardy Heron - and that the file it wants is x11.conf and the OS calls the file xorg.conf, and you do have an ATI video card. Here is the info that might help me (and please bear with me as I know nothing about Linux systems)
What specific video card do you have? - integrated, Radeon, All-in-Wonder.....
Are you running 32 or 64 bit processor?

well it is running 32bit CPU the ATI AGP type card has been in it since it was first built 8 years ago if memory serves .I think the last time I shut it down was 4 years ago to replace the cpu with the top end for the mobo. I have a habit of buying the mutts mobo's and using them till the latest CPU's settle down & COST LESS.
I suppose when it get quieter round here I could pull it & shut it down and see what ATI radeon it is if that is what is in it <BG> certainly not this week unless they stick me in hospital again.
Might be easier to find out what works and swap that in ?
There must be other LINUX bods on here the list is full of IT types andthey cannot all be mis-guided enough to use only windows surely (duck flame suit on LoL)
Re: Geographic map of members' locations
Well I know Google Earth works on Linux systems. I even found that it works on the Kubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). But most of the systems are running almost the latest and greatest hardware. They all site that the xorg.conf should be in the X11 directory. Something similar to this - /etc/xorg.conf - but I'm not sure which version of Linux they are running. Everyone also talks about getting the latest graphics driver for the board. I think we can solve this, so I may try to start the next testing phase. A good resource to look through is this - http://www.kubuntuforums.net/index.php - I just did a search for some of the parameters you mentioned. I'll keep looking, but see what you can come up with. Also, the OS should be able to tell you what type of graphics card you have without opening the box.
Off to diner.

Yup, I am but then I am not even looking at the problem right now,got the household to see about as Madam is back at our other place. So I have two brats to keep an eye on plus do stuff round the house while she ain't looking <EBG>.
You maybe able to explain why google is looking for a file that my system apparently does not have i cannot remember exact details but it is in this thread. It just maybe the case of moving a .conf file to another directory & fooling it
If you can point to a quickey then by all means do so as time is tight here and I do not want to keep you guys back from a better solution to the group in general.
I will post to our local LLUg and see what that brings up.
Thanks
