Wheel Swap Question

Post by the_finch »

I was gonna swap out the rear wheel on my 600 for a FZR400 wheel (lighter weight), and wanted to do the same to the front. I just wanted to check and make sure I can use my same speedo drive, brake rotors, etc. with the 400 front rim in the stock FZR600 forks (1997). :headscratch:

I tried to search the forums in order to check, but I can't seem to get it to display any results, as it says "400 wheel swap" is too common to display the results. banghead

I did this with my fzr all the 600 stuff swaps straight onto the 400 front wheel.

The rear wheel is a little more difficult you need to use the 400 disc as the 600s disc is completely different. That also means that you must use the 400 caliper and caliper bracket. You also need a 400 sprocket and 400 wheels spacers from memory, other than that it fits.
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.

weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).

DRU,
that is certainly true of the 3EN rear wheel swap nothing from the 3HE 600 fits unless you want to make brake tie rods:-

Been looking at a wheel swap for my '91 3HE racebike too, as I need to go down to a 17" rim to get slicks for it.

How easy is a Thundercat rear wheel to slot in?
