Yamaha finally released the details on the 09 R1.   IMO the headlights are too buggy looking and the exhaust is too wide under the tail. screwy other than that it is an awesome machine and i would probably buy one if it looked a bit better. the black and red paint scheme is really sweet too!!!! :headbang:

I saw that on the website, looks like Yami is trying to fill the "Don't like the FZ6 'fighter' look but not quite tall enough for an R6" niche. Not that it's a bad thing at all, the g/f fits in that niche. Incidently, I love how Yami calls the the FZ6 a streetfighter.

I like it.

I think they actually put some thought into it. They should have added inverted forks. It just gives it a more updated appearance, but I realize that they are trying to keep the cost down.

i think its ugly and its only been made to snag all the ninja 650 riders away. front upper ram air tubs and head light looks like a old gsxr...rear foot pegs are a nice copy of the z1000, rear swingarm looks like a ninja 650R.

its just ugly i think

new R1...i like it but the damn eyeball head lights and the tail is alittle short...mufflers can be changed!

They're getting ridiculous. I like the shorter exhaust pipes, but that monster under the bike is out of control!

Haha, I wish....how much are they? I do need to upgrade, and that is nice looking. I still really like the R6 though...I'd never be able to decide between the two. (At least the r6 I can get slightly used for a cheaper price tag! :whistle )

Its about 7g, you could get a used z1k for less. I think its pretty bad ass though i actually like it alot. I'm assuming they brought it out to replace the yzf600r that they dropped last year. I agree that the headlight is pretty similar to the gsxr but i don't think its that bad looking. My only real gripe about it is the swingarm it's so long and thin, i just can't get over how flimsy it looks. The one on the standard fz6 looks alot better and has the newer style adjusters on it, why they didn't just use that one is beyond me. Oh and that blinker/plate braket thing looks rediculous just jutting straight back into space like that. There is no purpose served having it out that far. Over all though i like it alot more than the standard fz6, although an fz1 with the optional side fairings looks pretty nasty too.

Mmmm, yum.

Oh and the reason its so big on that one is they got rid of the under tail exhaust, what your looking at is both the cat and muffler, like on the ninja 650. With that in mind its really not that big.

Here is motogp rider James Toseland Blasting a New '09 R1 around a track.

That Big Bang (actually its a 'long bang' technically. Dont ask me what that means though) motor sounds cool. :headbang:
