carb sync

Post by erawtik »

Ok if been searching for last couple hours on sync'n carbs. I seen someone here used 2 sobe bottles, so i figured if that method works il do that but im not understanding everything about it like where you hook them up, where the adjustment is made, and the order i under stand is 1-2 then 3-4 then 1&2-3&4 so how do you sync the first 2 with the send 2 with only 2 tubes? While bike is at idle this adjustment is made from my understanding. And the last thing i thought i seen something about turning the idle knob. Anyway i hope this makes sense to someone that can get me in the right direction. I think i also seen that the fuel tank needs to be takin off? So if the bottles work my parts list is 2 rubber plugs some 1/4 clear tubing and 6mm mig tips. Reason i want to do this is my bike idle jumps a bit and while cruising it surges a bit so im assuming carbs are not in sync. One thing i noticed today when i started it up today with choke off it ran for mabey 30sec's then the idle slowly went up till it got to about 4k then i reved it and it dropped. Do these have auto chokes on the carbs? I have a manule choke lever that iv never had to use :).

The rubber boots under the carbs have a screw in each one. This is where you screw in the mig tips. The adjustment screws are on the bottom side facing the rear of the bike. There will be 3 screws(one between every carb). When you go to sync, only have the mig tips screwed into the two carbs that you are syncing. The carbs that aren't being synced must have the original screws in place.
First connect your sync tool to carbs 1 and 2. Adjust the adjustment screw between those two carbs until the water levels between the bottles stop moving. 1&2 are now synced.
Second, do the same for carbs 3&4.
Third, connect the sync tool to carbs 2&3 only. Adjust the screw in between those two carbs.
Congrats, your carbs are synced.

So again order of syncing is:
1 & 2
3 & 4
2 & 3

Yeah you will have to remove the tank. Just get a chair or something to sit the tank off to the side.
