Bike before car?

Post by shredex »

I was just wondering because alot of people think Im ignorant for getting my Fzr before getting a car.
I looked at MANY cars in my price range and they all blew. I dont have parents that would help pay for my first car. Eventually I said f*ck it and I bought my FZR.
A bike gets great mpg and you dont need insurance. I got my bike to save gas and to not have to tart around friends places and for the fun of the ride.
I love riding. I got my bike and now im saving for a car.
I was told im doing everything out of order and "Why cant I just do things normaly?"...
I dont think there is anything wrong with it.

I would like to have a bike and a car but if I got a car first then I would be paying alot for gas and insurance and I wouldnt have any extra money to save for a bike.
now that I have a bike, I can save for a car as well and wa-la! I have both...

Thats ALWAYS over rated.

Keep on doing your own thing. If it wasn't for Colorado winters, I'd be doing the same thing as you.

Where exactly do you live that you don't need insurance on it? Anywhere I've ever had a bike it has to be insured just like a car.

Shredex,
Believe me you are doing it right for the following reasons:-
a} not putting yourself in the hands of a bank just to show off to your circle.

b} learning road skills that will make you a FAR better car driver as you will be aware that there are bikes on the road

c} show & be independent learn thinking for your self not be a sheep.

d} you will find company in friends who will last you a long while (most of my biker mates are 30+ years of being mates (how many car drivers can boast that? ))

e} to some you will be an outcast, scr*w them they are not worth knowing if they cannot accept the whole you.

f} the ladies get close up and personal on a bike, in a car unless she is being very naughty is across the car while you get to look at nothing but the back of some cage.

I live in florida.
You ARE requiered to have insurance ONLY if you do NOT wear a DOT approved helmet.
if you wear a helmet, then your good to go.

but insurance is very good to have incase you hit someone, all the damage cost isnt coming straight from your pocket

The only reason I have a car now is because I moved across the country.Up to three months ago I only had my bike.I've had other cars befor, but just having my bike is much cheaper. It only cost me $110 bucks a year for insurance on it.I kinda need my car now being in a wet state and I love my turbo :headbang: Back in the desert tho,Im more than happy to ride year around

if its normal you need to go back and reconsider your decision. if people tell you its not normal you must be on the right path.
