Hey guys, had the strangest experience on my bike this morning going to work. I was in 4th, cruising at around 5K RPM, when I got to a straight strectch I couldn't resists opening her up a bit. So I cranked the throttle hard, and the bike starts to take off. Nice and crisp, quick acceleration. When it hit around 8000RPM, the engine just "jumped" to around 9500RPM with the bike still maintaining the same speed, if that makes sense. At the time, I couldn't really think what that could be, but then I started to think about it, and most likely it was my clutch? I hope it's not transmission, but it didn't make any tranny noise... Can anyone confirm it's the clutch, or experienced anything similar?
No issues with my clutch, and the friction plates are new as of beginning of last season.
Since we're basically running a 400 bottom end on our 600s, I guess we're pretty close to the limits?

Re: Clutch slipping?
Sounds to me like it was the clutch, but I suppose I could be wrong. Did you try it again to see if it happened once more?

Re: Clutch slipping?
Yeah, tried it again at lunch today, and seemed to do it again. But intermittent. Only did it once, and this time I think in 3rd. It definitely doesn't do it often, and now that I remember, I'm pretty sure it's done it a couple times before, I just never really payed attention. But it's definitely only on full throttle around 8K RPM.bweight wrote:Sounds to me like it was the clutch, but I suppose I could be wrong. Did you try it again to see if it happened once more?

Re: Clutch slipping?
from my experience it breaks down pretty much to one of these
worn clutch
bike not warmed up
wrong oil
too much oil
low on oil
Your transmission is Gears so if that baby slips you would damn sure know it LOL
or....... your clutch was just tired, hung over from the weekend, or just plain lazy feeling.. J/K
it is getting a tad cooler even here in GA so maybe your bike wasnt warmed up all the way, or low on oil.
