I got a jr and it works well. I've even brought car batterys back to life with it. My neighbor uses a regular one on his micro sprint but they're harder on batterys than road bikes.

Either one will work but I have the Jr and when the bike sits for more than 2 days I hook it up. Right now I have it hooked up to the boat battery so its nice and ready for the lake on the weekends. I have quick disconnects for them also.

Is a battery tender similar to the Optimate we get over here?

If it is, then it's worth every penny.

I've had a Battery Tender for years and think its some of the best money I've spent.

Here in the winter if I catch a nice day all I have to do is unhook the quick disconnect and away I go. Totally worth the ease of not having to take the battery out, store it inside, and then hope the charge held over the winter. I'm not sure what the differences are regarding the full sized and the junior, but I would imagine the circuitry would be pretty close to the same.
