Header question

Post by the_finch »

I was just recently luck enough to score a used full Yoshimura R&D race exhaust system. It came off of a 400, but the header looks like it should match right up to the head on my 600. I was initially concerned that the downtubes might be too small, but after measuring them against my stock header (still mounted) here's what I found:

Stock Header
Primary Tubes
1.25" OD
(Probably) 1.125" ID

Yoshimura R&D Header
Primary Tubes
1.375" OD
1.25" ID

Both collectors and midpipes have a outside diameter of 2".

How significant of a performance increase do you think this will bring? And does anyone have the same measurements on the V&H and D&D headers primary tubes and collectors?

I don't think the stock 400 pipes will mount to the 600 because they hit either the frame or the engine near the back of the header. You should look into that before you get too deep into it.

I'll definitely look into it. I'll take more measurements on it vs. the stock header this weekend (while tropical storm Faye is supposed to be hitting us).

Whoa...I almost started bidding on that due to the low price. Now that I know it's someone on here, I won't worry about it. Happy eBay bidding!

P.S.: TK, if I can't get this Yoshi header to work, I just may be getting with you about setting me up with a R6 header.
