I went with the competition accessories cardboard fiber. They stick out much further and were cheap.
I had the same problem when I wore my jacket I could not see around my fat ass.

Has anyone tried the GSXR mirrors with turn signals? Would like to see what they look like on an FZR.

Re: FZR 600-elbows in mirrors-need replacement
I installed some bar end mirrors on my girlfriend's buell blast. That bike vibrates like hell. But yet, even with the vibration... the bar end mirrors were functional.
You couldn't make out details... but the convex mirrors allowed you to see everything to the sides of you. Even the blind spots that traditional mirrors can have and also behind you in each mirror.
I strongly suggest these types of mirrors, even with the vibration. You don't need to make out the lic. plate of the car beside you or behind you. You just need to know they are there.
Convex mirrors are the key.

Re: FZR 600-elbows in mirrors-need replacement
I ordered some black ones off of eBay which were too short. Only about 3/4" longer than the stubby's that came on the bike that I can't see out of. I went down to the local Yamaha dealer. I ordered a pair out of a Parts Unlimited catalog. They go on the Yamaha FZ1. It turns out that the bolt width is about 1/2'' - 1" too narrow to mate up properly with the current bolt holes on my FZR. I am going to have a machinist fabricate an aluminum plate that the mirrors will bolt to. The plate will also have another set of holes that will match up with the existing holes on the fairing framework. At least that is the plan. The stubby mirrors that come stock on the bike extend about 7" out from the fairing. The ones for the FZ1 that I ordered are about twice as long. But they don't stick out that far - they are mostly swept back. They should work fine. I still can't believe that any manufacturer would actually sell a motorcycle with mirrors that don't work. I used to have a '91 Honda CBR 600 F2 and I never had this problem. I could see everything.

Question...are the FZ1 mirrors not able to be slipped into the FZR bases?cyclestone wrote:I ordered some black ones off of eBay which were too short. I will have to check. I didn't even think of that.
