My friend is upset that his newish 05 YZF600 is slower than my old 91 FZR600 (hahahahahahaha), so he's getting cams for his to try to outrun me. I can't let that happen..so please help! haha
on with business...does anyone know if there are aftermarket cams available for my bike? I'm assuming 89 - 99 FZR600's all have the same head/cam/valvetrain..but i could be wrong. If I am wrong, my bike is a 91. I was also wondering...do the YZF600 cams fit in the FZR600 head? I know that that the heads are basically the same. But I do know that on a certain toyota head that yamaha designed (3sgte in the MR2), there are different revisions of the same head, rev 1 and rev 2 are compatible, but rev 2 and 3 are not because of a difference in design. With that said, (well i'm probably saying too much) is the same true for the FZR and YZF engines? Different revisions? IF the cams do fit my head, then is there anything stopping me from buying aftermarket YZF600 cams and putting them in my FZR head? I've also thought about ripping apart my bike once my friend takes his cams out, so I can see if YZF600 cams fit it.
On a slightly different note, lets say the YZF600 cams don't fit the FZR head. If I put a YZF head on my FZR block, do I have to change pistons too?

276-x9 (Kit)
276-x6 (RR profile)
Looks like you will spend 688.00 +cores for a set.
It is my understanding, the FZR400 "Kit" grind is the best. But that might be on the dyno only.

Re: FZR600 aftermarket cams??
the yzf600r and fzr600 use the same exact camshafts, so you can use the same exact camshaft he is going to use in you're engine.
popular manufacturers.....
WEB camshafts
MEGACYLCE camshafts
you are looking at around $600 for a set of re-grind hardweld cams, if you get the crazy lift and durtaion cams then you will have to spend another $600 bucks on a H.D valve spring and retainer kit from the manufacturers listed above.
