Gasket Kit

Post by snydes »

Anyone know a good place to buy a full gasket kit? All I've found is this - http://www.partsnmore.com/parts/yamaha/ ... ng]=custom (Scroll until you see $155 Gasket Kit)

Not sure if anyone knows any better ones/places to buy.

Thanks,

AS

Sorry but, there's no actual "link" to the product all you do is put it in your cart and its there, but ill post a photo of it instead.

The photo just shows the package and the price beside it.

Sorry for the earlier inconvenience, when i go to the link before and scroll down its like right there.

I know there is no direct link....I tried to put it up for you.

Anyways after your original post edit I found it straight off.

Soon as I saw "made in Italy" I thought Athena.

They are a good as you will get aftermarket gasket set for the 400.

You would be advised to use the OEM head and base gaskets though as it is Soooo much work if a pattern gasket fails in those two locations.

£100 is a good price for that kit in the UK so after your conversion rate (dollars/GB pounds) it seems a reasonable price in U.S./Canada.

A ton quid is about right for a gasket set. When I used a pattern one in a cam cover it leaked, even though I used silicon to glue it in it wouldn't sit right it seems a couple of mm short. Then I used an OE and it was fine.

I bought the one I mentioned above, hasn't arrived yet but I will let you guys know how they hold up. Full price with shipping and tax came out to just under $200 (CAD)

Hi. I may be looking at doing a rebuild on an engine and was wondering what all gaskets come with this kit. I've searched, even on Athena's website, but can't find a list. Does it come with any carburetor gaskets or the rubber joints between the carburetor and intake?

From off the top of my head no, I think you would need a carb rebuild kit(if you could somehow find it) but i may be wrong. Later today when I'm home I'll post pictures of all the gaskets laid out and you can see for yourself.

There are no carb gaskets or rubbers in an engine gasket set .

The carb gaskets MAY be included in a carb rebuild kit .
It is an expensive way to buy carb gaskets though.
The rubbers are a separate part completely and would require sourcing from a dealer or manufacturer of pattern parts.

Thanks for the replies guys. The carb rebuild kits I've seen don't come with them either, so I guess they are sold individually. Snydes, a pic of the kit laid out would be awesome. Thanks.

Missing from pics, head gasket, bottom gasket. There might be more missing I can't remember.
