94 FZR 600 jerky at low rpm??
Hello there, i just got this bike a week or so ago and she runs great!! The only concern is that shes pretty jerky at low rpms mainly at 1st and 2nd gear? Is this common or is there something i should check? I planned on getting the chain adjusted but it doesnt seem to be too far out of spec. It has a jet kit and shorty pipe.
Re: 94 FZR 600 jerky at low rpm??
I bought my 89 fzr600 from new and it was a bit jerky at low speeds such as 20kph or lower. Above that and it was smooth.
Re: 94 FZR 600 jerky at low rpm??
The bike starts great and revs perfectly (no dead spots) but that damn lurching, jerking, jumpy shit at low rpms kinda sucks. Im gonna check the chain slack and hopefully that helps out some. I can deal with it for the most part but kinda annoying. Any simple or easy remedies let me know! Im pretty sure the plugs are fine but i plan on changing the air filter just because.

Basic maintenance - tire pressure, lube and adjust your chain, lube and adjust your clutch lever, adjust your clutch mechanism, synch the carbs.

The barbs have been cleaned and synced, have receipts for it but the chain needs to be adjusted and im gonna work on the clutch cable. How do you lube a clutch cable?
Re: 94 FZR 600 jerky at low rpm??
Can you adjust the chain without lifting the back tire? sorry if this is a dumb question. All my other bikes have center stand so never had to deal without one

At ride height your chain should have an inch of travel up & down

It for sure has more then an inch of play. Im gonna get the adjustment done here real soon so im thinking that will help or cure the issue

It will help.
The problem will be worse if the chain and sprockets are worn and if you are trying to ride an FZR trials style.

+1. There are ways and means to improve a Fizzer's low-speed performance, but the fact remains that these engines are meant to scream, and the lowest practical engine speed is significantly higher than, as RR suggests, a trials bike.

I understand that completely you guys!!! After the chain and clutch get adjusted properly whatever ''jerkiness'' remains ill for sure just learn to deal with it. I have been riding for a while now and have gotten used to more annoying things on a bike. just want it to be taken care of as best as possible and be good to my baby
