been away for a while...... '91 600 help

Post by mossyoakboy »

ok so i haven't been on here in quite some time, but im getting back into my bike which makes me happy, but im still having problems, i talked with a mechanic and fellow motorcycle enthusiast friend of mine about why my bike isnt running right, he came over and listened to it for a bit and played with it for a min and thinks that i need to re-jet my bike, which i have been thinking since i got it, it has K&N oval air filters that cover 2 carbs a piece, and a slip on pipe. im going to buy a stage 1 jet kit, but dont know which one to buy, so if any of you have re jetted your bikes which brand of jets should a fella go with? DynoJet? or Factory Pro/ Pro Carb? or is there another brand i dont know about that is better?

First off, you need 4 lengths of rubber or PVC pipe to stand the filters off the carbs, to give the proper intake length. Close-coupling the filters is probably the number-one cause of poor low-end running and tail-chasing amongst riders with pod filters.

If you go down the list of post to mine titled "going back to stock airbox" a user named ragedigital posted some "words from the wise" that covers these pieces of rubber or pvc called "velocity stacks"this was a topic of hugely beneficial knowledge to what your dealing with.
