Red Light at High Revs FZR 400 3EN1

Hello All.
New to all this but hope someone can offer their knowledge?
Here goes:
When revs hit about 8 to 9k and above, the red light on my dash comes on,
Only going out if the revs drop.
It only does this when riding, if static and in neutral it will rev freely no worries and no red light.
This doesnt give me a warm feeling!
Anyone got any idead?

add a little bit of oil. It should be middle to high in the oil sight glass when the bike is UPRIGHT (NOT on sidestand)

That is your oil LEVEL light-not oil pressure.

What is happening is that at high revs the oil pump is getting lots of oil to the top end (good thing) but it's not draining back fast enough to keep the oil level sensor 'under water' . Generally 6-8 ounces more eliminates this.

Now that is good news.
Without access to a manual I pressumed the Red Light was Oil Pressure!!
Oil Level is about the best news I could get.
I had checked this and it was in the top section of the glass, I'll get topping up.

My FZR600 does the same thing. There is actually a section in the owners manual that states under heavy acceleration and or lean angle the oil level light will flicker.

If your bike is straight up and down, engine off, and the oil level is near the top of the glass then you have enough. It should only be about 3/4 of the way up the sight glass.

Problem now sorted so cheers all.
Oil right to the top of sight glass, now no problems.

Be careful not to overfill the oil
