94 fzr 600 question?

Post by myfzr600 »

Hello there my fellow Fzr peeps! :grinnod: Was wondering if these bikes are normally cold blooded? It was 45 degrees today, did an oil change and what not to get her ready for the season. It seems to want to have a little trouble holding a solid idle when shes cold. Its not horrible and bike doesnt die but when she warms up she idles great! Are they normally this cold blooded? :tks:

Did you have the starter (choke) on? Yes, these ARE cold-blooded beasts; that's why the starter jets were added.

Yes the choke was on.lol It starts right up every time with the choke and i let it work till where it doesnt require choke anymore but untill the temp gauge starts to rise up some she acts like shes cold yet. Make sense? Just didnt know if this was common for a fizzer. Normal then?

Basically, it wants the starter until it doesn't need the starter any more. Once the revs start to pick up, start backing off the starter lever. Once you're down to about 1/2 on the lever, it's pretty rideable.

So long as the revs drop back to normal idle when you release the grip, you're fine. It really sucks to be riding in traffic, chop the throttle, and it keeps accelerating ...

 Good to know man. Hope she lasts long under proper care and get many more miles outta her!!! Seems to be a nice bike. Are the Fzr 600s normally choppy at low rpms? She seems choppy when your down real low but smooth as butter up some in the rev range. :shocker It has a shorty pipe thats its jetted and carbs synced to so i know its not that. I have heard that these bikes just dont like the low rpms. that true?

Very true, however a well adjusted and well lubed chain helps.

I just found out that my running light for the tail isnt working but the rear break light does? What can be the cause of this? fuse? Blown bulb? :headscratch:

Almost certainly blown bulbs (the 600 has two, does it not?). The tail bulbs, like the front signals, have two elements. The 5W running light elements are only protected by the 30A main fuse, so if the tail lights are out but the bike is on, it ain't the fuse!

Two bulbs, each with high & low elements.

Ok, just looked up how to do so and looks to be super easy. remove paseneger seat and bingo, your there. Ill check both bulbs tomorrow to see. Is that gonnabe the best odds? This a common thing? (never had it happen before) Running light doesnt work, brake light does
